Agree, equal rights for all not just some.

Particularly true in the US. If the government is really going to embrace separation of church and state it needs to grant equal rights to all.

Is marriage a legal institution or a religious one?

The government taxes married couples differently than single individuals and recognizes, even officiates weddings and as such must grant equal rights. IF the govt refuses to do so then marriage should be seen as a strictly religious ceremony. No longer performing weddings, no longer imposing a "marriage penalty". This practice would be even more potentially sticky, opening the door to polygamy, underage marriages, and a whole sea of other questionable unions all in the name of "religion".

I agree that gay marriage should be legalized. Each and every human being should be capable of choosing the person of their choice. However, I think there should be some guidelines set to follow, such as children being adopted into these situations.

Hello Sean, Sp… :)

I do not see what the year has to do with whether or not Gay marriage should be legalized or not..

It was legal in Sodom and Gomorrah..also during the time of Jesus..in many places..

I do not vote, one way or the other..

Just as it is their choice to want to get married..it is my choice, not to stir up any hatred or anger..

I have not led a perfect life myself..so who am I to judge another person..

In Jesus Most Precious Name..
With Love..In Christ.. :)

Yes, but certainly it should not be recognized by the church. There is no other reason accept for bigotry that gays shouldn't be recognized by the government as married. If people can have drive in marriages in Vegas, or marry each other after dating for a month or two then there is no more threat legally than with a gay couple. Lesbians have more successful relationships and longer lasting ones than any other relationship I believe I saw in some study.

I agree because to deny someone rights based on an archaic version of laws that no longer applies to this day and age, and that not everyone even agrees is REAL is illogical, especially in a country that is not a theocracy.

Sexuality that is NOT used to cause harm, and who other people love is nobody's business but their own. ANYONE who uses sexuality to cause harm, (i.e. rape, bestiality, pedophilia, etc.) should be held accountable, but an honest, loving, gay marriage never really causes anyone harm, not really. The only harm is perceived "harm" to the egos of those who only want to push other people around based on their narrow view of those same old archaic books, laws and such which they cafeteria pick from.

I feel pity for them but legalizing gay marriage means encouraging disorder in our culture. Discrimination will be more terrified when it is legalized by the federal court. This will lead to more division in our society like the slave-issue and chaos will be inevitable!

Of course it should!! Why should we have more rights than homosexuals?? They are people just like us and they deserve to have every right that we have.

Interesting side note- I watched a show on TLC last night called "that woman is my husband" and it was about a woman that was married to a man who was in the process of becoming a woman and she was sticking by him. Now I'm pretty darn liberal and open minded but if my man decided that he wanted to get his goodies cut off and get some ta-ta's put in I would have to break up with him. I love him to death and I would still want him to part of my life but I don't think I would want to stay in that kind of relationship with him.... Just something I been thinkin about since I watched the show

I agree, all Americans should be treated the same under the law. Realistically, I think in red (neck) states the best we can hope for is civil unions. there are people who Cherry pick the Deceleration of Independence the way they cherry pick the bible.

I think it should be legalized because that is a personal union between two adults. What does the government have to do with it? It's not like they are going to make straight people marry gay people, so I don't know why straight people should care.

Agree. There is no legal reason why same-sex couples should be banned from marriage; the only reasons anyone has is that their religion frowns on it, and our government isn't supposed to make laws establishing one religion's beliefs as correct. Making gay marriage illegal is making discrimination and oppression legal.
