If you never learned a language how would you think to yourself?

English ppl think in english and spanish think in spanish but if you never heard a voice and where never taught language how would you think. For instance if i see a pretty tree i can say to myself "thats a pretty tree". But if you never heard or where taught a language how would you think something like that?How do you tell yourself things without language

Words are just the expression of thoughts, ideas and emotions, in whatever language you want. Therefore if we didn't speak any language the latter would still be within us, but we would not be able to express our feelings to others so well. Otherwise you are just assuming that deaf people from birth would not be able to "think", which is obvioulsy not the case.

And anyway, you are wrong: English people do not necessarily think in English, Spanish people do not necessarily think in Spanish and so on. For example, Italian is my mother tongue, but for some aspects of my life I think in English, for others Italian (or French, Spanish or German) comes more spontanous. It still depends on who you wish to communicate your thoughts to.

The main purpose of language appears to be communication with other people not thinking. For example, many animals (dolphins, monkeys, dogs, pigeons, lab rats, octopuses etc.) have been shown to have limited thinking and problem solving abilities in scientific experiments even though they don't have a language as we know it. It is quite possible that some of the higher animals do have an aesthetic appreciation for beautiful things . The fact that we humans can use adjectives or verbal descriptives for these aesthetic feelings (like "beautiful," pretty," "bucolic," "scenic" etc.) is remarkable and makes us unique. However, it does not mean that other species don't have these same feelings or impressions. Some studies indicated that even female birds choose their male mates based partly on physical attractiveness.

If we were not taught of any languanges in our lives, what would happen? It is very simple. We would most probally become like an disable that couldn't talk or speak. We can listen but we won't be able to understand. We can make a sound because we actually were not incapable but we just couldn't speak. Therefore, we would develop our own languange base on our own understanding that other people couldn't understand. Any sounds could be our languange. For example, a blind person. He couldn't see. But to adapt in the environment he learns to touch to identify stuffs. For us, normal person, we won't be able to know everything by the sense of touching. Yet blind people know how to walk without others' help, cross the road and etc. Can we do that? Therefore, if we were not taught of any languanges, we would develop our own way to indentify something and of course we imagine or what to say is, we use our brain to intepret before we could express. That is why imagine is not necessary. By the way he is a normal person. He is not totally stupid or insane. He is just lack of one quality. That's all from me. Hope you good luck and take care!

If someone had never learned a language & had thoughts they'd either do one of two things...... they'd start to create their own vocal linguistic communication, or they'd simply think in images instead of words.

Cavemen drew pictures on walls for all sorts of reasons. I think that with the absence of a language, one would think in pictures... images... If you thought a tree was pretty you'd probably have the image of the tree in your mind.

with mind pictures and emotions ..but think about it.if u didn't have a language taught to u, u would eventually create yr own. uga-buga.

you wouldnt. you would be retarded. like a baby. they cant think, or express feeling. your brain would be underdeveloped due to the lack of stimulation, and you wouldnt think.
