I believe it was Oliver Cowdery, as he was first to be baptized.

I answered your other question...
By that "title" of Mormon, probably. That nickname was given to us members because of the belief we have of the Book of Mormon. So by name only, he was the first "mormon."
But, we do believe this gospel is the same gospel that was taught to Adam and Eve and when Christ was on the earth, that the Priesthood our men hold is the same that was used to create us, the earth, and everything else. We believe the fulness of the gospel was restored to the earth through Joseph Smith by the power of Almighty God.
I encourage anyone out there seeking for truth to watch the LDS semi-annual General Conference this weekend - it can been viewed on line at LDS.org... listen to the speakers, hear what they teach, and I promise just even by listening, the Lord will manifest to you the truthfulness of what they speak.

Oliver Cowdery, at least in modern definition of the word "Mormon". Since we beleive the LDS church is a restoration of the same Gospel taught in the Bible, we could also say that Adam and Eve were the first Mormons... but using that logic, Adam and Eve may also be called the first Catholics, Baptists, Muslims, Jews, etc. :)

Mormon? If you mean member of the true Church of Jesus Christ, then no. The first member of the true Church of Jesus Christ (Mormon) would have been Adam. The gospel of Christ has been around since the creation of man. Adam was the first to follow this gospel and therefore the first "Mormon" as the gospel of Christ is eternal and was from the beginning.

Yes, Joseph Smith was the first Latter-Day Saint. He was the prophet through which the truth was restored again to the earth.

EDIT: Oops, yeah, Radictis is right.

Well, according to the Book of Mormon, the jewish emmigrants who came to the americas abandoned all jewish customs and started worshipping christ, performing baptisms, and waging wars against everyone else. This supposedly happened about 400 BC, making "Lehi" the first "Mormon" Mormon himself was the last white man to live in pre-columbian New York who got killed by the indian bad guys about 600 AD. Mormon, therefore, was the last Mormon until 1830 or so.
