My daughter has the same problem. Poor you and poor child. I sympathize with you. It's so hard to watch your child in so much pain. My pediatrician reccomended putting Benefiber in her drinks. A teaspoon will do. If He has diarreah from this, decrease it until you find the right dose. I only do this to my daughter if she hasn't went for more than two days. They also recommended we change her diet. Things like apple juice, bananas, fiber foods, and so forth. Sometimes it helps when she is getting ready to go and I can tell because she does the same thing your child does, I put her on the potty. It helps. I also try to hold her hand or rub her back while she is trying to go and having problems. My daughter's is so bad that sometimes she can't go, and screams for hours at a time. She also throws up. I have had to take her to the E.R. because I didn't know what was wrong. They couldn't do anything for her either. It's so frustrating as a parent, but their isn't much they can do for it. Your son could also have Irritable Bowel Syndrome. You can look it up on the internet. There are great sites that give more info. My other daughter suffers from this, and we had to change her whole diet. Dairy, fried foods, and red meats are NOT her friend. I really reccommend you look it up. Good luck.

I know ow pain full it is to watch you kid in pain. Make him drink a lot of prune juice is not the best tasting juice out there but it will help him. cut down on the milk for a little bit. Or just give him 1 cup a day but give him the 2% milk. Give him lots of water. Does he get angry a lot. Sometimes anger causes tension and can cause that problem. Good luck and see an other doctor.

OMG that first and last time my son was constipated he ended up so sick we had to take him to the ER and nobody knew what he had. he had fever, vomiting, and on top constipated and complaining of stomach-aches. They though he had appendicitis, but since he could walk straight ,that was out the list. Anyway, to stop constipation they gave him an emema. This helped him clean his system ,it was really messy at the ER , the hospitalized him after cause he got dehydrated as well. If you think your son needs more attention, call up his doc again and tell him its not working and you see your son is not getting better. They will check him complete. Good luck!

Push the dr to take your concerns seriously. If she/he doesn't then take him to another dr right away. The last thing you need on top of this is a doc that treats you like a "hysterical woman." Been there. My son has 2 health problems that I found first, and the dr. didn't listen to me at all. I had to MAKE him do tests. If they check him out and find nothing wrong, and I hope they do, then just say "Thank you for taking my concerns seriously." Don't show any embarrassment and don't let it make you afraid to get questions answered in the future. You're the one who's responsible for your son. I commend you having your son's best interests in mind! BTW My neph. had this problem and the doc did nothing about it until it caused hemorrhoids. I firmly believe that the pediatrician didn't listen to my sis because she's a young, unwed mother and he just disregarded her completely. If this describes your situation, then do what my sis finally did. Hold your head up, march into the dr's office, and firmly tell him what your son needs. Don't let the pediatrician-or the nurses/secretaries intimidate you.

Yes we have had this problem, and if it continues then he will have sudden boughts of diahrea as well. You need to get him seen by a specialist just ask your doctor for the referral and do not take no for an answer. The specialist will run a series of test. In my sons case it was linked to his syndrome, and we have controled it through diet, but he was born with the problem.

Doctors have their opinion on the matter but that does not mean it is the right one, and severe constipation can lead to other problems so you want to get it taken care of asap.

i had the same problem with my little boy when he was about 18 months old. And I started watching what he ate and drank and as it turned out he is lactose intolerate and i had to start giving him 2%milk instead of whole milk and he's been pooping just fine since then. So give that a try and see if it works and if it doesn't then put a little Karo syrup in his cups, and inthe mean time find another doctor and get a second or even a third opinon

My son is almost two and has this problem.. First is he eating too much dairy?? If not, I put my son on prunes and he eats them everyday.. You can even try a little drink of prune juice everyday. This is all your doctor is going to tell you.. If it gets too bad you can buy suppositories, as a last resort though of course..
I hope this helps..

We have that problem from time to time. It has something to do with heredity and him eating too much cheese. The too much cheese happens because I cannot always be around to monitor what he eats and the people that are don't comply with my concerns, even his father. But that's another story. Luckily my son LOVES Saurkraut. He also likes pickles and pickle juice (I only give him a small amount). I give him these things when he seems to be getting constipated.
