Im pregant now and work full time in the military I've heard alot of people say that I shouldn't be working in a military enviroment if I want to have a family and live a normal home life. I want to know what you think. I work in an office at a desk all day.

I spent 20 years in the U.S. military, the last 5 as a single father, and I've worked with many married and single mothers who've had successful careers. It is hard, the constant extended separations can put real strains on a family, as well as the stress of knowing that at any time a loved one might be lost forever. You have a desk job now, but if you choose to stay in, will you have one for an entire career? There is no single answer that works for everyone, you have to figure out what is right for you, personally.

Of course it's okay. To say it's not is to say it's not okay for any mother to work. Many mothers, both in the military and in civilian life, juggle a family and career, including careers that require extensive travel and time away from home. As long as you have a good support system should you find yourself deployed in an area to which dependents cannot accompany you, you'll be fine.

From what I understand the support structure in the military is much better for working mothers than it is in normal society (free daycares ect ect).

They do much more in terms of medical consideration.

I would say that its easier to be a working mother in the military than in normal society. However should you deploy I would expect to have to give your child over to other family members until you get back.

if you want kids please get out of the service. all women do is make it harder on their unit or command when they get pregnant because they are no longer fit to do their job. nearly a 100 women had to be flown home from my husbands ship because they got pregnant. either get on a good pill and use condoms or dont join if you might want kids. dont make men like my husband have to work longer hours because you cant take your pill or keep your legs closed,.

women dont belong in the military
