No, I like the element of surprise and I think in most situations it is best to let nature takes it course. If we were to intervene, who knows what we would be messing with. Personally, that is not a chance I would take with my child. Also, the natural way has been working for a long time.

I don't know if you know, but they have figured out how you can do this and they have already started. I would never do this. It goes against the laws of nature. I'm not a religious person what so ever, but this just isn't right. People are messing with things that they shouldn't be messing with. All this will do is bring problems. It's just not right to mess with nature like that.

For the second child i'd love to be able to pick "boy" since I'm having a girl next month, but other than that, no. I'm excited to see if she's going to have his brown hair or my blonde....I think either way she'll be beautiful and the surprise is half the fun.

I think if you have the money to do it and really want the child go for it. I would do it in a heartbeat. I already had a son. If I would of wanted to try for a second I would of wanted a girl. I wouldn't want a carbon copy of me or her dad but just to choose the sex. They can do sex selection but it is very expensive.

Whats the point of being able to change something that has a natural beuty to it? I think if you are able to pick what you want your child to look like, the world would have a lack of selection and become kinda re-runish.

Yes, I would design my child. It is not wrong to want the best. I'd like to be able to pick the best aspects from me and my wife rather than just leave it to chance. So for my hypothetical genetically engineered child, I'd choose my wife's beautiful hair color, my foot genes instead of my wife's flat-foot tendency. My eyes because I don't need glasses like my wife. I'd pick my wife's mind because she is smarter than me. I'd pick my immune system as I seem to get sick less.

For trivial things like hair/eye colour... no. It's just not for me, I'd like to be surprised. I don't think it's 'wrong' just a little OCD.

However, doing tests for genetic disorders ... yes, definitely yes.

I would, but my design would be different:

Healthy. All 10 fingers, all 10 toes. Clean bill of health. Ready to take on the world. Happy too.

No, that's God's decision what a child will look like. If you want to change the appearance of your child, you might not be ready to be a parent.
