i'm curious 'cause my gf acts strange most of the time

for myself, I tend not to trust men, plus I am really independent.

My mother always had a bf but none of them were ever really father figures. Even the one we lived with the longest. Most of them were all @$$holes.
I don't know if it was not having a "dad" around or having them there that made me the way I am now; but I do know it was one of the two.
I tried too hard to be friendly with men when I was younger. I was promiscuous and only had male friends. Now its very hard for me to keep a relationship for any long period of time. Right now I've been with someone for almost 1yr 1/2; and I've been feeling antsy. I love him; but I think I'm really afraid to actually commit.
So just remember that even though there's a guy there; it doesn't always mean there's a father figure. And if there is a father figure; it doesn't always mean he's a good one.

Having a father or a father figure teaches a young girl those small social cues that tells a girl how to act around men.
Same as men with their mothers...they learn all their sweet, caring, and nurturing cues from the woman that shaped their lives.
With girls and their father figures...a father figure is the first man in that child's life that gushes all of this love and attention on her. Its a mutually beneficial relationship; she learns what to "do" for positive male attention/ re-enforcement. That relationship teaches a girl how to act and react to men.
She sounds like she needs a little more affection and nurturing from you. If you're willing, dig your heels in, and give her what she's missed.

Yes, it can. Some girls end up with a guy who treats them more like a daughter-much older. They can be permiscuous-looking for love they never got from dad, ect. Just talk to your gf and ask her whats up.

It leaves a hole. They don't know what to expect from men. Most of them end up looking for a man to rescue and ''father'' them. I don't know if this is your girlfriend though. She could have other issues
