Do i NEED a HDMI tv to use all the features of my Playstation 3? ... or will component input do?

You only need HDMI if you want an all digital signal to your 1080p TV. For everything else, component cables are fine.

Component input should work. HDMI is the best picture quality you can get, but component is next best.
