Hi!
When someone fractures/chips their tooth its the extent of the chip that determines treatment. Sometimes the reason a tooth may not respond to any injury in terms of pain is because the pulp , meaning the nerves and blood vessels inside the tooth are stunned. Changing color indicates blood vessel injury inside of a tooth which may require root canal treatment. In your case the fact that one of the tooth is changing color means the tooth had injury to the nerves and blood vessels in it and probably lost "vitality". Smaller chips can be restored using tooth colored filling material called composite or porcelain veneers and larger ones can be restored by placing porcelain crowns. Bleaching is not a soultion as the injury is on the inside of the tooth although internal bleaching after root canal treatment is sometimes performed to make the tooth color "lighter" thereby helping with shade match when restoring with composites or porcelain.
My advise, talk to your dentist.

Sometime a blow or significant chip to a tooth or teeth can be hard enough or deep enough to cause nerve damage, or possibly fracture the root of the tooth. This may go unnoticed sometimes as the tooth will try to recover from the trauma. The tooth or teeth in your case, usually are fine but occasionally the nerve will die. What you're seeing with the darkened tooth is this; the nerve dying causing bleeding with in the canal which is seeping into the tubules, showing through the enamel making the tooth appear darker. You'll need to see your dentist for a x ray to make sure no other damage has been done to the teeth, such as a fracture, which would require an extraction. At this point the other tooth (that hasn't changed color) may or may not survive the trauma, it's difficult to say. I've seen cases where the tooth appeared to be fine, just chipped, then months or sometimes 2 or 3 years later the tooth dies or abscesses from the previous trauma. The tooth that is darkened is definitely dying and will need a root canal therapy and a post and core with a crown to restore it, unless it's fractured. Then our discussion would be about extractions and having a bridge placed. So it's just better if you see your dentist soon so he can decide exactly what is wrong and what exactly needs to be addressed now. Hope I've been of some help with this problem, hopefully it will only be one tooth that is dying. Good luck!

RE:
I chipped my front teeth and now they are turning off color, what work will be done to my teeth?
The teeth i chipped are the Right 1 and 2. The 1 is the only one turning a different color, will the other one turn? i dont think that tooth hit a nerve.

Go to the dentist to get a professional opinion. In my case I got into a fight and bite the person and a piece of my tooth chipped. Now, some years later the tooth next to it was discolored, so I went to the dentist and he said, you have a choice you get it pulled out or have a root canal done. What happened the nerve in the front tooth was no good.

if the tooth has not been damaged internally, and the colour change is not a result of a disorder or from the accident, you can maybe use an at-home tooth-whitening kit (probably the kind with the brush so that u can target the affected teeth)
to address the chip, you can go to your dentist and get it "bonded" --- i had that done for an asymmetrical tooth....the dentist "bonds" an enamel-coloured substance to the edge of the tooth....and it is soooooooo natural!!!!! not even I noticed something there....even when i was looking!!!
that will definitely be cheaper that getting it capped or having veneers.....
if u are concerned about the health of the teeth from the accident, i would suggest takin a visit to the dentist to see what really is the problem and what can be done about it before doing any at-home measures...
hope this helps

I am guessing you severed the root. You will need a root canal and then they can rebuild the teeth with very natural looking teeth.
I have had many root canals and I have never experience pain. The numbing shot has in the past lasted to long so they reduced the amount on the last one.
I am very happy with the work that was done.
Oh make sure you go to a dentist that cares about pain control.
At 12 I had a dentist that tried no pain management and it was of the most painful and stressful dental appointments.

Probably crowns for both. The one that is turning color might need a root canal. The dying nerve usually causes a tooth to turn dark.

I've seen a chipped tooth that never discolored; a dead tooth that never chipped or discolored; a dead tooth that never chipped, but turned brown; a chipped tooth that did discolor to brown; and a tooth that was knocked loose and never died or discolored (adult tooth). Not sure what will happen with your son, but if it's a baby tooth and it does turn brown - he should not need a root canal done. At the worst, they might pull it; but most kids just keep their brown teeth until they fall out on their own.

I chipped both of my teeth and I had to get root canals for both w/ temp caps. They turned a different color and I had to eventually get crowns
