I've always wondered how tea bags can stand up to the punishment of being wet in very hot water for long periods and pummelled with a spoon without tearing. They can't be made from just paper.

It is a blend of wood and vegetable fibres. The vegetable fiber is bleached pulp abaca hemp. Abaca hemp is the longest/strongest papermaking fibre. Heat-sealed tea bag paper usually has a heat-sealable thermoplastic such as PVC or polyproplyene, as a component fibre on inner side of the teabag surface....oh and fairy's wings and moondust!!

if your talking about the huge like 7 lbs. ones those are made of like hemp with cloth inside but if your talking about the little indivual ones than they are made of paper or some are made from pigs skin. j/p

good question. never thot of that. probably from the same sort of paper used to make babywipes, though i would like to thik they are not tested in the same way
