Little children don't sin. They may repeat the behaviors of their parents, but they don't sin. They're not old enough to be held accountable for their actions. I believe all children who die go to heaven. They are innocent.

As to the sins of the father being visited upon the third and fourth generation, as someone above mentioned, I believe that the children suffer the effects of an adult's wickedness for several generations. They don't inherit the sins, but the consequences of those sins are visited upon them. That should make parents careful of their actions. That's the purpose of the statement, not to say that God sets Himself against them.

Lot was the only "righteous" man in Sodom. Look at the disregard he had for his daughters. If he was righteous in relation to the rest of the men of Sodom, how must they have treated their children? Have you considered what it would be like to live with parents who are evil?

Today we have social services, child protective services, and psychotherapy. What would have happened to all those children if God had spared them after they grew up with the influences they did? Who would have treated them for the PTSD?

I think God did. He took them home with Him where they never had to worry about how their parents would treat them tomorrow, or have nightmares about what happened to them in the past.

You have a heart to give people the benefit of the doubt. And I love you for that. My guess is that in your heart you think there was some redeeming value to the people of Sodom and Gomorrah. I think you would have gone with Abraham looking for ten righteous in the city. I would have gone with you. I don't like the idea of people not being redeemable. I believe that people can change and that people are resilient. But I've also seen people who are destructive and don't want to change. People who will just keep on hurting others because they can and it gives them a sense of power.

What would you have God do with them, Markyyy?

The Bible doesn't mention the children from Sodom and Gomorrah.

Also, children don't reach the age of reason till around 7 or so.

Maybe there weren't many children due to the fact that homosexuality was rampant and that illicit union produces no natural children.

God bless you.

Children belong to God. He gives life and He takes it away. Oftentimes children suffer from their parent's bad choices, this was only a temporary suffering because children are with God now.

Were their fathers sinners?

Remember that God punishes the child for the sins of the father to the third and fourth generation.

I wonder how that works with adoptions...
