Is there a special socket/wrench I have to get to take the filter off,or tighten it up

you have to tighten it up real good,they should have provided you with a new gasket for it,but if its tight it shouldn't leak on it,try re-tightening it,and see if that helps it,good luck with it.

there should be a nut right on the top of the filter housing(a 13 mil if I'm not mistaken) just tighten it up a lil, if the problem still occurs you will have to change the filter again and replace the o-rings, the filter should come with new ones. note there is also an o-ring under the filter on some applications.

Any filter wrench should do the job. Sounds like someone failed to lube the gasket before tightening the filter. Take the filter off and rub a little gun grease on the gasket and put it back on. You should be able to tighten it tight enough by hand.

You could need a new top I work at a Carquest store and we sell about 5 of them a month that would fit your truck
