My two week old seems to always lay with the right side of her head down. I put her on her back, but she never seems to want to lay her head to left. Do you think this is ok?

She's fine, she's completely normal and she's not going to have a flat head.

She likes to sleep like that. Yes it's ok. You're a great mom to notice something like that when she's only 2 weeks old.

As far as SIDS goes, it is not clearly understood what causes this tragady. It probably has more to do with about 10 other factors than how the baby sleeps, but the recommendation is to keep the baby from sleeping on its stomach.

Now... you need to forget all about this and go take a nap for goodness sake!

She really should sleep on her back if you can possibly get her to. Invest in sleep blocks. I think I got mine @ Baby's R us. This greatly reduces the risk of SIDS. I went throught this same thing. I decided that, even though a lot of people will tell me, "My babies all did such and such and they were just fine." it was not a valid answer. I started asking people whether I should bet my child's life on their advice. They all answered "no" and acted shocked...but this is essentially what they were asking me to do when they gave me their advice in the 1st place. I decided to take the safest route on this issue and let others slide ( like when to give up the bottle/bink, etc.) Put your baby in the sleep positioners. She is worth the trouble and now is a good time to train her since the risk of SIDS extends through the 1st year. When she is awake or when you are w/ her and she's asleep move her into different positions so that she won't get sick of laying one way all the time. Once I got my son sleeping on his back it helped me to get some rest, too. Oops! Sorry! Did you mean that she lays on her back w/just her head to the side? I misunderstood and thought she slept on her side. Yes, that's ok-just move her around when she'll let you so she doesn't lose hair on that side. Sorry again, that I went off half-******!

Nope, this is how children get "flat head". But something interesting on the left side, or switch her around so feet are at one end one night and other end another night. Usually this is from being interesting in something and looking at it.

If you make distractions on the other side and switch up her head to foot orientation and still no change, ask your doc. She could be tight in the neck on one side.

Health Canada puts "sleeper blocks" and other such aids as HIGH RISK for SIDS.

My son was a side sleeper and a tummy sleeper from the moment he came home. We tried sleeping on the back but he just wouldn't sleep longer than 30 or 45 minutes. When he slept on his side he always slept on his right and never his left, but then again I am the same way. I can't sleep on my left side (uncomfortable).

I am sure she will be fine.Maybe she favors the right side because of the way she was positioned in the wohm.If she seems to be more comfortable on that side I would say that she would be fine as long as she does not stuff her face in the bed and keep it there, that's what I had a problem with.Good luck and congratulations!!!!!!

Yes it is ok. As long as you lay her on her back. We all have a way of sleeping that is more comfortable than any other. My son was just like your daughter.

We've got a baby coming so I've researched this. Babies should sleep on their backs to reduce SIDS risk. There are also things you can buy to keep baby on its back and sleeping comfortably at any childrens store

I think each person is different. My daughter would not sleep on her back for nothing. she was always a tummy sleeper. I personally prefer my back or my right side. your child should be just fine.

I have 3 kids and everyone of them slept differently. I just let them sleep the may they were comfortable. I might be wrong but I would let her sleep the way she wants to. Good luck and congrats on the new baby.
