The cluster fly is slightly larger than the common house fly. There are no distinct lines or stripes behind the head, and the abdomen has irregular light and dark gray areas.

These flies appear during late autumn, winter, and early spring at windows and in rooms not frequently used.

We used to have them in our old house. They cluster together during the winter to hibernate. They are regular house flies.
