The essence of Rhonda Byrne’s The Secret is the law of attraction. According to Byrne and her twenty-nine co-contributors, all things in the universe (which is always capitalized and usually synonymous for "God" in the book) vibrate on a particular frequency. When a person thinks in harmony with the frequency of something, that person attracts it to themselves. If a person thinks about wealth, that person will receive wealth. If a person thinks instead about their debt, the person will receive more debt. You attract what you think about; your thoughts determine your destiny.
The law of attraction is restated by Byrne in various ways:
- "Nothing [good or bad] can come into your experience unless you summon it through persistent thoughts" (p. 28).
- "Your thoughts are the primary cause of everything" (p. 33).
- "Your current reality or your current life is a result of the thoughts you have been thinking" (p. 71).
Other quotes:
- “You are God in a physical body. You are Spirit in the flesh. You are Eternal Life expressing itself as You. You are a cosmic being. You are all power. You are all wisdom. You are all intelligence. You are perfection. You are magnificence. You are the creator, and you are creating the creation of You on this planet" (p. 164).
- "The earth turns on its orbit for You. The oceans ebb and flow for You. The birds sing for You. The sun rises and it sets for You. The stars come out for You. Every beautiful thing you see, every wondrous thing you experience, is all there for You. Take a look around. None of it can exist, without You. No matter who you thought you were, now you know the Truth of Who You Really Are. You are the master of the Universe. You are the heir to the kingdom. You are the perfection of Life. And now you know The Secret" (p. 183). [Here the author thinks all of this should be said to the person in the mirror. It is the heresy of heresies. Her big "Secret" is nothing less than Satan's original lie in the Garden of Eden, "You will be like God" (Genesis 3:5).]
- "no one will stand in judgment of [your life], now or ever" (p. 177).
The author absolutely promises: "There isn't a single thing that you cannot do with this knowledge.... The Secret can give you whatever you want" (p. xi). By it "you will come to know how you can have, be, or do anything you want" (p. xii).
The Secret is nothing more than heretical so-called Name It-Claim It, Positive-Confession, Prosperity Theology (minus God and the Bible), built on a metaphysical foundation of New Age self-deification. All with an important twist: your thoughts can bring anything into your life because you are god.

Good question. The word Scientology is taken from the Latin word scio, which means "knowing in the fulllest sense of the word" and the Greek word logos, meaning "study of". It literally means "knowing how to know" Scientology itself is defined as "the study and handling of the spirit in relationship to itself, universes, and other life." Scientology addresses the spiritual being. It directly raises his awareness and ability, and by doing so, he also becomes increasingly able to overcome the negative factors that impair him. Scientology believes man to be basically good not evil. It is man's experiences that have led him to commit evil deeds, not his nature. Often, he mistakenly seeks to solve his problems by considering only his own interests, which then causes trouble for both himself and others. Scientology believes that man advances to the degree he preserves his spiritual integrity and values, and remains honest and decent. Indeed, he deteriorates to the degree he abandons these qualities. But because man is basically good he is capable of spiritual betterment, and it is the goal of Scientology to bring him to a point where he is capable of sorting out the factors in his own life and solving his own problems. Life has tended to force the individual in to certain values. The stresses of existence have tended to fixate his attention to a point where his awareness of himself and his environment has been greatly diminished. Attendant to this lowered spiritual awareness are problems, difficulties with others, illness and unhappiness. The goal of Scientology is to reverse this diminishing awareness and, in that sense, wake the individual up. As one becomes more and more alert, his abilities increase and he is capable of greater understanding and thus better able to handle his life.

Yes and No.
I would think that the statement:: "Scientology is related to the movie 'The Secret'" is a more accurate portrayal. I don't know too much about Scientology, but I do know that some of their ideas, like most religious ideas, have close relation to the ideas of the Law of Attraction.
The Law of Attraction itself, as it is being -sold- today, is nothing more than many different individuals' expounding upon ONE religious concept.
Being that my own faith aligns more with Chrisitanity, I can only explain it as far as that faith is concerned. Here is just one scripture (of which there are many), within the Christian Bible, that explains the same concept of the Law of Attraction::
“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there without watering the earth, and making it bear and sprout, and furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; So shall My word be which goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it” (Isa 55:10-11 NAS)
In these words are contained a revelation of Divine Truth that few readers of the Bible are able to perceive. What is set forth here is a fundamental concept of cyclic-universal law that, when properly understood, is one of the foundational images that all of reality continually embraces. What does it convey to us?
Every aspect of creation, as well as every substance of vital energy and life-force that proceeds out from God, must BY NATURAL LAW return back to its Source.
Going one step further the Bible states “My word… shall not return to me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it”.
This same Divine concept is demonstrated to us in the example as seen in the parable of the prodigal son. We, who are the children and offspring of God, were originally with our Father in the kingdom -- we came into this, the far country, and it is our destiny to return.
So, if you think about it, the thoughts we have in our minds, at least from a Christian standpoint, originate from God, and thus will return to God. Which, is the basic premise of the Law of Attraction; if you look deeply into the concepts.

the secret has nothing whatsoever to do with scientology although one sect of scientology does claim that humans are responsible for themselves and can manifest the reality they wish. this is what the secret is all about...manifesting reality but the two are mutually exclusive.

The Sacred Secret is that Jesus put a woman on His Throne. So basically, God is a woman. Yes, as Jeremiah say's - Alas! That day is great - so that NONE is like it!

No, the secret is related to pshchology. It is a cheap trick to make us interested in something that we would otherwise probably leave alone.
