We define our meaning to ourselves.
Usually you have to spend a lot of soul searching to figure out what truly matters to you and where your place is in the Universe.
Unfortunately for some, their only purpose seems to be as an example to others.

What Is The Purpose
of Your Life?
Serious question. Why laugh about it? Why not take off the to-cool-to-care mask for a few minutes? Answer that question and you'll find out some extremely important things about yourself. Really…
It's amazing how much corporate and educational America teaches that "we must have a goal and a purpose" for whatever they are about. Every where you look there are mission statements and goal statements and objective statements, etc. With all that focus on a purpose, isn't it amazing that it never really gets down to the individual and his/her life? Oh yes, an individual person can have short term and long term goals for careers or family or education or finances or hobbies or exercise, etc. Perhaps you have some for yourself regarding these things. But the question remains, WHAT ABOUT YOUR ENTIRE LIFE - WHAT IS THE ULTIMATE PURPOSE TO THAT??? Are you going to take, trophies or bank accounts or homes or cars or careers or family members or pleasure or "fun" times, with you after you die? What will your life mean after you die?

If you believe in God ask Him what is my meaning in life? We all have a purpose in life. A good book to read is "Purpose driven life" by Rick Warren
If you don't believe then say "If you are true God, show yourself to me"!
You can't ask in a mocking way though. You have to be really sincere & honestly seeking w/ all your heart. It's usually when you're feeling depressed or hopeless. (Not for everyone but for most)...He will show you!
Here is a verse for you.
Jeremiah 29:11-13
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
Listen to this mans personal testimony. It is an awesome testimony.

Ha! It is not something to be found. You have it already!
There is no mystery or magic here-you are alive! That, contrary to being dead, holds more meaning than most of us tend to recognize.
Life is energy. It possesses a deep source of energy unknown to our most sacred origins.
Anything you do has meaning only if you are initiating that meaning. Another way to find this motivation is happiness. Pursuing your own happiness is the most rational act one can commit. Do this, and meaning is expresses as one in the same.

Just look around the house dear. There is probably all sorts of cleaning to be done in the average household. Lord knows that my husband leaves all his unmentionables laying all over.

I think you meant how do we find meaning in life ? OK. Life is actually meaningless and dull. It is all up to you to put YOUR meaning in it.
