City water sources range from wells, acquifers, or plants that "create" the water by processing undrinkable water into drinkable water.

These wells are simply holes drilled in the ground where water lies well beneath the earth's surface. That water is pumped to the surface and tested for bacteria, impurities, pollutants, and treated for human consumption.

Acquifers are merely pools of water beneath the earth's crust. I sometimes doubt the purity of these pools of water due to seepage of chemicals/impurities that are in the ground.

If there's a garbage dump near an acquifer I'd think that when it rains all impurities in that garbage dump are washed into the earth and seep towards that water acquifer. Pro's say this doesn't happen but I disagree.

In my own home I can drink from the tap and get one specific taste. Then filter the water and get a totally different taste.

It's my firm opinion that there are so many people in this world, so many pollutants, so much pollution that goes untreated, that our water is questionable no matter how plant managers try to treat it and purify it.

I never ever drink tap water any longer unless theirs a filter on the line.

In survival training we were taught that water in a stream which runs over sand is pure due to the sands filtering abilities. I've drank from a stream such as that and it tasted good w/o making me sick. One's caution is always the best judge.

we get our water from a bore hole ,but mostly buy purified water to drink as most of Mexico does.

rivers and lakes become poluted because people dumb rubbish on the edges, and most of the water we get is purified water from rivers and lakes

70% of the contamination comes from organic material that people mix with their garbage this rots and starts a contamination ,and this is the easiest part of our trash to deal with ,if only everybody would make a small compost heap

this only requires 2 square meter s,a shallow hole in a shady place ,and all of the organic waste of a household can go here ,bones,,kitchen waste ,toilet paper, etc ,
cover it everyday with some leaves or a bit of sand ,and there is no smell
in about 6 months some black compost is the result ,which can be used in the flower pots or beds.
