I want to make a unique burger. I want to mix something in with the ground beef. Such as: corn, cracker crumbs, cheese, potatoes, etc.

Any good ideas?

Here are three different ways to make some "tasty burgers" that are either stuffed or have stuff in the meat. Have fun:

Texas Stuffed Grilled Burgers

"A great change to the usual grilled burgers. These burgers are stuffed with ham, cheese, mushrooms, and onions then slow grilled. Grill over hickory or mesquite wood if possible for better flavor! A sure family pleaser!"

Original recipe yield:
5 Texas-size burgers

PREP TIME 15 Min
COOK TIME 15 Min

US METRIC

SERVINGS About scaling and conversions

INGREDIENTS
5 pounds lean ground beef
6 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons hickory seasoning (optional)
salt and pepper to taste
2 cups chopped onion
2 cups chopped fresh mushrooms
2 cups chopped cooked ham
3 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
DIRECTIONS
Preheat a grill for high heat. When the grill is hot, lightly oil the grate.
In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, hickory seasoning, salt and pepper until well blended. Make 8 or 10 balls, and flatten into patties. On one half of the patties, distribute the onions, mushrooms, ham and cheese. Carefully cover the piles with the remaining patties, making sure to seal all of the edges of the patties together tightly and enclose the filling.
Grill the patties for 8 to 10 minutes per side, or until meat is well done, and cheese in the center is melted.

My 9-year old son makes them by mixing finely diced onions and cheese right in with the hamburger meat. Best way is to try it yourself. Get a couple pounds of 80% - 20% (no fat = bad burgers) meat. Get some small rolls and make White-Castle sized burgers, each with a different ingredient added directly to the meat mixture before cooking (bacon, sourcream, mayo, ketchup, jalapenos, fried pepper & onions, bacon). Anything cooked within the burger always tastes better than just adding it on top (the 20% fat does the trick).

If you're going to add something to your ground beef, you may as well just go ahead and make meat loaf, you know?

I'm a purist when it comes to hamburgers--handful of ground chuck shaped into a patty (worked very lightly to avoid tearing the meat up. Don't squish it, run it though your fingers, etc. Just work it enough to shape it.), little salt, little pepper and grill. Don't add any bread crumbs, onion soup mix, corn, etc. Like I said--if you're going to do that, you're ruining your ground beef, and you may as well make a meatloaf.

Onion soup is good, it keeps the meat nice and moist. If you like spicy you could try stuff a pepper jack cheese in there or chedder chease. How about adding steak sauce or wortchesire (sp) sauce. Go to www.campbless.com and check out some of their receipes.

Cheese is good, I like green and red peppers, some jalapino, ground Steak Seasoning is really good too. Sometimes French Fries are good and sometimes it comes out too salty.

Try Ranch Dressing. I hear that is good.
