Since you're so patriotic, volunteering to go on a trespassing adventure to help attack people, shock and awe style, who have never fired shot one on US soil yet, then you should tell your sad story to kids thinking of joining the military. Maybe they'd like to trade a ruptured abdomen for $10,000 too..

It would be in her best interest to get ahold of her medical records and photocopy it...she might run into some resistance in requesting it, but it's her right to view and copy anything in that record that she wants to. My medical records got "lost" during my transition from the Guard to the Reserve, thus all of the things that happened to me during Active Duty (hernia operation, back problems, allergy problems, etc.) never really existed. I could show the Army my hernia correction surgery scar, but unless it exists in the record, it didn't happen during my time in the Army (as far as they're concerned), thus there is nothing they will do about it if there are further complications down the road.
Anyway, like the other poster said, if they fix her problems and she stays in the military, you'll have to wait until she gets out before you can file a claim with the VA for disability. If they chapter her out now, you can file a claim now. Make sure you get that record, however.

she should have taken care of this problem when it happened. Now you must prove the point to a bunch of folks that act like the money will come from their pocket.
First she must document the injury and take statements from anybody who witnessed or saw the accident. Then she needs to obtain a copy of her medical records that show any injury. Lastly you will need to present all of your in for and claims to the review board and pray they are in a good mood.
Plus, you might as well hire a lawyer that will charge you more than the 10K to get the job done.

Tell her to continue to go to the doctors while in the service. The doctors will determine if her ailments are enough to chapter her out of the service. If not, she will do her time and the VA will award her a certain percentage for her disabilities. Either way, she will get some money.

How did hse hurt her back? Was it her fault?
She would have to have it documented in her medical records, and then a team of doctors will determine if she could continue with training. If so, she will go on her merry way. If not, then your wife will be med boarded out, and on that med board they will determine if she gets any monetary compensation.

A copy of your medical records. Depending on how long she was in, she would be eligible for disability from the VA, or if she wasn't in that long the navy can give her a settlement.

First things first....
They will keep her until she can be realeased. Be it fit for duty or medical seperation. Regardless...she isn't going anywhere until she doesn't need medical attention.
As far as making $$....good luck with that...the answer is NO and who ever told you that is a liar.
They will Med Sep her and once home she will apply for VA benefits JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER PERSON WHO IS INJURED IN THE MILITARY.....

no she is not.. she belongs to the US gov. they will fix her with free medical care.. if she is not fixable they will give her a medical discharge and she will get some benefits for the rest of her life... maybe her pay.. I really doubt the story about your friend getting 10K... 99.999999% of the time... if it is bad enough you are discharged with medical care.. you cant sue the Gov.. unless they allow it..
