Check between the radiator and the A/C condensor (looks like a smaller radiator in front of the radiator) and make sure there's no leaves and gunk built up in there blocking the air flow.
If that's all clean, then I have to agree with most likely head gasket gone bad.

try draining and replacing the coolant. Oil change now and then would be good too. Also your exhaust may have a problem. Bring it to the shop if you want a thorough inspection.
But sometime it's not the car, it's the driver.
Especially bad if the problem is a woman driver.

Most likely a head gasket. Most newer neons 97 and up have head gasket problems notoriously, most the time around 80k miles. Check up on it.

you didnt say if it was leaking water or the engine size but since its a little car i'm thinking 4 cyl. which most likely would be a cracked head or blown head gasket

well, you could try getting ceramic coated headers. the stock cast iron is bad about holding heat. new headers could also give you a couple extra ponys.

I would get a coolant replacement, and a oil change. Also I would get your hearter core and hearter core tubes replaced.
Good luck.
