You can get boxes of invitations at staples, target or michaels that you just print on your home computer. Keep in mind that the invitation is the first thing people see and sets the tone for your whole wedding. A more professional, put-together, formal invitation is going to send the message that your wedding is formal and classy. A more simple, DIY invitation says "casual, light-hearted affair". You know??

I made my own wedding invitations and no one knew. They were very elegant, modern and simple. Here is what I did:
I designed 4 postcard sized pieces of paper to hold all my information. I right justified everything. Page 1 had just our names. Page 2 had the formal invite. Page 3 had the RSVP (since it is postcard sized I set it up so all they had to do was drop it in the mail, I even had a stamp allready on it.) Page 4 had directions and information on where I was registered.
I tied it all together with a bow on th left side in my wedding colors. I had it printed at a local print shop on high quality linen paper so it had the feel of something expensive. It also took the stress off running it through my own printer and it messing up.
If you want to see a picture of it email me, tracelightly@yahoo.com.

I made my own and have made another style for a friend's wedding. I would be glad to e-mail you photos and instructions. My ideas came from the For Better or Worse Guide for Wonderful Weddings for Cost Conscious Couples. They looked really nice and were fairly inexpensive to make (less than $1 per invite). My e-mail is orangeflameninja@yahoo.com let me know if you'd like to see them.

I did my own...since my flowers are gerber daisies, I had these as my "theme" for the invites-type in We Do wedding bulletin in the search box on this site...scroll down till you see the "We Do" bulletins...these are what I got..
http://a-weddingday.com/printyourowninvitations.html
$15 for 100 of them...they are a little flimsy, so we took peach colored paper (card stock) and printed the invite portion on that. We then secured them into the bulletin w/ Dots (those little sticky glue dot things-get them at Wal Mart)
The bulletins open up like a card...They turned out very nice...
I then went to PaperDirect.com and ordered my envelopes.
They also had matching "postcards" that I printed up my response cards on...I was able to use postcard stamps and cut down on the postage, which gets to be expensive...
Good luck in whatever you decide!!
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!!!

I did them myself. Go to Hallmark, get some very elegant stationary with envlopes and print the wording on them using document program. Mine were pink with a flower border very pretty. I did 20/25 invites for $10.

I made mine from their raw materials. Lots of sizes, colors, and options, and you can be creative! I designed the invitation and artwork myself and used a graphics program to execute it professionally. Everyone raved about how awesome our invitations were!
If you do it yourself, be committed to the time it takes, and start as early as possible. If you cant use a professional graphics software, then ask a friend who can. Good luck!

I just did my own, and I cant imagine these days why anyone would pay a printer to do them. i bought them at walmart and you use your own printer to print them, you log onto a website thats free and you can use their template. it was 14 bucks for 100 I think and they come with all the inserts and reply envelopes. Mine came out beautiful, 200 invites perfetly printed for 35 bucks !

From a CD or their site.
They're the ones that make the invites you get at the office supply stores.
GREAT site.
