What makes you think it was okay? Look at the consequences... Solomon turned away from God and had his kingdom split in two. Read ecclesiastes and see how happy of a man he was. David was nearly overthrown after his affair with bathsheba, and their son Solomon couldn't control himself, again his kingdom was split and all the wealth he accumulated carried away to Egypt and eventually babylon. Abraham slept with his concubine and his promised descendants (the Jews) are still suffering at the hands of his contrived ones (arabs). I see a very bleak picture painted by those who committed sexual sins in the Bible.

First of all, you must remember that David and Solomon were KINGS. They were not prophets. Prophets are held to higher standards than Kings. Just like Preachers are held to higher standards than The President.
You also must remember that David always asked for forgiveness for his sins. It is unclear whether Solomon repented or not. With all of that wisdom, it would be a shame if he didn't repent.

Solomon paid for his sins. Read the Bible, you'll see. Sexual sin was NEVER right for anyone. And don't let ignorant people tell you otherwise. The most vocal oppenents of the Bible usually know squat about it.

God tolerated this until Jesus Christ came. Before though, concubines were allowed BUT they were protected by laws. Its possible it was tolerated for a more rapid increase of the population of Israel.

Sin does not go unpunished ... Solomen's father David fell in the arms of Besheba and lost a unnamed son as well as all his otheer Children. So God punished David and he will punish any body else as well who dabble in sin.

A lot of the sexual taboos and so called sins that we have today evolved from the puritan and Victorian times out of England. It shouldn't be surprising that values and morals were different thousands of years ago.

They're hypocritical. Remember how King David (who killed Goliath) had an affair with this one guy's wife, only after sending him out on the front lines to die for just that reason?

The same reason it was okay to have sex with a woman and pay her father the price of her dowry if you didn't want to marry her.
