I taste the food to make sure it came out okay and that’s enough for me. I feel as if I have succeeded in the creative endeavor that I set out to accomplish. Actual eating seems somehow anticlimactic. Also, I like to experiment and try new things so the fun is in the process and a successful result. In addition, by the time it comes to eating, I’ve had more than sufficient exposure to food. It may seem strange to others that I don’t want to eat the food that I’ve gone to all the trouble to prepare but it does have the side benefit of keeping the weight down.

I'm the complete opposite.
Good cook, but the prep and everything else is a major bother for me.
I think cooking is an artistic persuit, but I'd rather draw a picture of supper than actually start chopping things up. Made some veggie Tikka Masala last night, and it actually took hours to prepare, because I would do so little work on it at any given time. It did eventually get made and it was delicious.

It could be that you gradually taste the food while making it to see if it tastes the way you like it and are too full to set down and eat. I had a cook in one of my Army mess halls that would keep a small bowl and taste the food as he was preparing it but would never set down to eat. He got so obese that he couldn't get promoted to Staff Sgt. although he was one of the best cook you could find anywhere.

I have no idea, but i am tha same way. I make a good home cooked meal for my family and then i am not hungry or just plain don't want to eat it. My husband says it's my way of being un-selfish and making sure my family has enough to eat first, but if that's the case wouldn't i eat it after they were finished? If you figure it out let me know.

I am the same way with chile, I cook it for cook-offs, but I do NOT like to eat it. I have taken 3 first prize and one second prize in the cook offs too, so I know it is good.

You are tred from cooking, and you already had your eyes set on the food for awhile, so it's not like a suprise to eat anymore.

I'm the same way. If you are a creative person, once you have completed the act of making a meal, sometimes that's enough for you. You've already been eating it with your brain. LOL

It might be an inherent creativity. The satisfaction of creation and completing something that you hunger for. Rather than the actual food.
