I think it should be illegal to drink underage in pubs etc however to give children drink in their own homes is a good idea. It means when they do turn 18 they are not going to go out and get ridiculously drunk because they have never tried alcohol. In some cases it doesnt work i know but i was alolud a Woodys or a hooch when i was younger and when i turned 18 drinking was nothing new

Er did I miss something, it is.

When I was a lad ( under 15) we all drank a little, both at home and when we were out. No one ever got drunk. The problem now is not so much alcohol, which man has coped with for thousands of years, but society, which is breaking down, with the quantity of alcohol drunk and the behaviour it induces being a symptom of that. It appears to be mainly a UK phenomenon!

Yes it already is, but everyone knows there are ways around it. Look at Lindsay Lohan. How did someone so famous get to party and turn into an alcolholic underage and not one bartender refused her a drink. Go figure that one !

Please see the web page for more details on Teenage drinking. In Scotland, it is an offence for anyone under 18 to buy alcohol for a person under 18 years old - the BMA would like to see that legislation introduced in England and Wales.

yes, the effects of alcohol are lethal. the legal age to drink in the uk is 18 yet most teenagers are getting drunk around like 15, so lowering the age would have drastic effects

i live in Italy where there's no age limit on drinking.. funny how I don't see teenagers hammered on diamond white of a weekend... Britain has a culture of drinking to excess so for this there needs to be an age limit... how can children be expected to act responsably when they have such great role models in their parents who go out and get hammered every weekend

I think it already is as you put it 'underage' so therefore against the law so therefore not legal!! But i do think more measures should be enforced to prevent underage drinking! Its just too easy for underage kids to get hold of alcohol!

Yes! and it should stay that way. Adults that are drinking are bad enough. If you include a bunch of kids that don't know what they are doing and can't handle the booze it would be worse.

Under age drinking IS illegal. Where are YOU from?

I have heard that it already is illegal. I have also heard that drinking will cause you to be unable to spell illegal. Children are already too irresponsible. Drinking would only exacerbate that problem.
