The Quran sets the rule for a married couple (with no children) when they inherit from each other as follows:
1- If the wife dies first, her husband inherits HALF of her estate.
2- If the husband dies first, his wife inherits ONLY QUARTER of his estate.
Is there any reason for the discrimination?

in these old days, women were only housewives, meaning that they don't need money because they don't even have an actual "outside home" job. But men did all the work outside the house, so they are the ones who are responsible for the money, while women are responsible for teaching the children and so on.

Yes,because women don't need money very much,as in Islam the man is the one who expends, whether a husband,a son or a brother....so all what she will do with the money (the quarter) is to put it in the bank.

the irony of this is that the clarification why many Muslim women folk do no longer paintings is with the aid of the fact they do no longer could. you notice in Islam the girls folk are continually handled in spite of this is by potential of her father (till now she get married..if she does get married, by potential of her husband..if she receives married, by potential of her grandfather, by potential of her uncle..or by potential of any male supporter.) So relatively this rule is to help women folk. for this reason they do no longer inherit as much as men because of fact the funds and property men inherit relatively is going to his spouse/daughter/mom for foodstuff, housing, outfits, water, and something she needs. all of the funds the guy makes/inherit is going to his mom (if his father is lifeless), easily his spouse and to all of his family individuals (little young ones) I imply the girl is often supported with funds so she does not could paintings. yet she nonetheless has all of the rights to paintings and earn her very own funds. the funds she makes is her very own funds and does no longer would desire to furnish it to her husband, father, brother or all of us till she needs to. So if her husband dies then she is supported by potential of her father, if her father dies then she is supported by potential of an uncle or grandfather, brother or some male family individuals member or family individuals buddy. So relatively Muslim women folk do no longer would desire to paintings, this is why lots of them do no longer because of fact they're going to continually be getting funds from somebody. yet dont overlook that if the girls folk desire to paintings then they are allowed to easily as much as men do. actually in the Quran it encourages women folk to paintings. i used to be hoping i helpped God Bless
