If it is ethical for her to have the fetus dismembered in her womb to cause purposeful misscarriage, I propose that all the more so she should be allowed merely to maim it.
Brain damage, etc.

Fine, anti-choice smeller, your arguement is foolsish and knee jerk. I never said I was anti-choice. YOu also implied of homes could be found for unwanted children, then choice should not be allowed; so it is you who are anti-choice.

Information police, in many states a woman who causes fetal alcohol syndrome through alcohol consumption can be charged with a crime. I think that is wrong. She made a choice about her own body.

The fetus in her womb is not just a part of her body but an equal part of someone else. I realize that it is in her body and not the mans, but isn't it a little strange that because of that she is allowed to make the final decision as to whether or not to be a mother. And the man has no say at all. Example : If the man says I want to be the father of this child and she says no, he is not the father, his baby dies at the mothers request, period. Now if he says I do not want to be the father and she decides to have the baby he will be a father whether he wants to or not, he becomes legally responsible for the child, period. This to me is a double standard. Men do not have the same option that woman do in this matter.
My answer to this would be: Stop abortion, make both parties responsible for their actions. And if your going to be against abortion stop looking down on mothers with illegitimate children and try and help that young mother if you can.

I'm pro life and pro choice. Abortion is wrong to me....however taking away free will is wrong as well. If we make abortion illegal we will have young women dying due to back alley abortions and we will be taking away their choice....which even God gives them. However, our current system is severly flawed. Planned parent hood makes abortion seem easy and painless....which it is not. We should make abortion a difficult process....minimum 2 weeks counseling....watch a video of an actual abortion (see the process, hear the sounds).....talk with others who have had an abortion and the emotional consequences.....and then if you can still do it....okay. We have done our part to really educate the woman....but she still has a choice. I guarantee the rates will drop and the burden of conscience has also been fulfilled.

Way to take it to the extreme there good buddy. It's stopping a life from going any further. It sounds like you have a sick mind and are willing to say just give it brain damage for the sake of my argument. Well it's a sad attempt and you're just trying to get sympathy for your side by doing this. Of course it's not right to just cause brain damage and let it continue living.

Michelle- you are not the only woman who believes that God is the one who should be the one that controls every part of us- including reproduction and conception- God is the creator and so when a woman gets pregnant- God has placed that child in her womb- YES CHILD- The woman is pregnant - but it is NOT just her body- there is a child there- no matter how developed he or she may be. God knew the child long before he or she was in the womb. That is how God chose to create us- He is in control-

I will probably be the only woman that comes in and says this:
But a woman does not have a right to her own reproductive system in regards to conception.
That is God's. He created it, He owns it, and therefore how can that vessel be rightful to the woman in reproduction? It can't.
I find your question interesting. It presents a quandary to those who are "pro-choice".
They find it fine to kill a child, notice how they 'minimize' the child...(blastocytes, a bunch of cells, etc) but to maim it, cause it to have brain damage...you'll hear something to the effect of "Well, she asked for THAT", or something else inane.
They can't answer it, it creates a moral dilemma for them.
Strange, heh?

The difference is that the brain damaged child is a drain on society's resources.
And the difference is potentiality. If she wants to end the potential for life that's fine. Deciding that the child will live with a handicap is a different story. It simply is, sorry.

Good point. After all it's not really a baby right? I think we should be able do away with anyone who cannot live without help (Children, elderly, handicapped, and mentally disabled) so long as their existance causes us hardship, mental anguish, or financial burden.
Makes a lot of sense doesn't it?

That's a morally grey area.
It's hard to simply answer with a "yes" or "no".
Too many variables exist for a binary answer.
