Sugar doesn't spoil if it's kept in a sealed container, but the quality of it won't be as good as it gets older. If you're thinking of using sugar that's been around for awhile, it's perfectly fine health-wise. You may want to taste it before cooking with it to be sure the flavor isn't diminished or changed at all.

It doesn't really ever go bad. It can get hard if there's too much moisture, and there are various critters that think it a great meal, but it doesn't really get moldy or rancid unless there's a *lot* of moisture.

not shure but if you keep it in the freezer it keeps a lot longer and kills bad germs or stalness
