with out bacteria there would be no soil and the plants would not grow with out plants no plant eating animals and no preditors who eat them

bacteria are the base of the Environment

They help decompose rubbish and excrement. Also fix atmospheric nitrogen (eg rhizobium) so that it is available for plants to use. Also fix atmospheric carbon so carbon levels in the atmosphere stay low.
