The only other alternative is Lasik Surgery, this will eliminate your need for contact lenses or glasses.
I went through an entire evaluation and decided against it since I am not nearsighted, I just have astigmatism. Since I am older, they told me that they could not correct my close up vision and would still need glasses.
Most places will offer an entirely free exam. I believe that most places want to wait until you are over 18, because your eyes are still changing before then.
I understand that the procedure takes less then 10 minutes. They numb your eyes and use a laser tool. It does not hurt.
Your eyes will be sensitive afterwards and may feel like there is sand in them. For about a month you will need to wear an eyemask to sleep to protect your eyes, and will have to use drops several times a day.
But, this is really the only way to get 20/20 vision within contacts or glasses. Check out the sites below.
Good Luck

The only alternative is Laser treatment. But it is expensive. If you do decide to have this treatment, be very careful who you choose. My friend had his done, and he had to be driven home afterwards, and couln't see properly for 2 days. He had to go back for further treatment because his eyes felt like there was grit in his eyes. There was not much improvement when the treatment was finished. I suggest you may know someone who has had this done, and ask them how was their treatment and is their sight improved.
