LOL, I'm sure I will get a lot of hateful answers. But my best friend had a little girl 6 weeks ago and she ALWAYS talks about how beautiful she is, I guess its denial or something. And she sends weekly pictures which only get uglier and uglier. Did you have an ugly baby? Were you able to admit it?

Parents of ugly babies are oblivious. I do not have kids but I always make fun of the ugly ones. My roomie friend has this a 2 yr old and good lord that kid is scary looking-BUGLY!! (butt ugly). LOL!!!
I know when I have kids I am going to be punished for all the name calling I have done.

How do you define beauty or ugly? A mother sees only the beauty of this tiny human being,she cradles her newborn in her arms and sees in her child's eyes hopes and dreams of the future.She marvels at the tiny little fingers ,the wiggling toes,a small bundle of love just waiting to be hugged.Yes a mother is able to see with her heart not just her eyes. How sad for those people who can clearly see the ugly in life but must struggle to see the beauty. Remember it costs nothing to be kind. Are you a parent, just curious if you were? I wondered how you thought your own children looked? When you do have a child try to remember this question about ugly when you describe your child.

You are correct, they are oblivious. When pregnant, I was very well-adjusted. I knew all newborns were ugly. They don't really get cute for a couple weeks, you know? I was prepared for an ugly newborn, lol. But then she was born, and I was like "wow, the first cute newborn ever!" Lol. I have pictures of course, and you know what? She was just as funny looking as any other newborn ever born.
Love is indeed blind. Whomever you love is beautiful to you. So yes, they are oblivious, and infatuated, and wonderfully unaware of any shortcomings of their child. That's the magic of parenthood! :)

I think its a mother nature to believe that their child is beautiful. I have 3 beautiful children, and trust me I would say if they were ugly, when my last one was born I thought he looked like a wrinkled up old man, but then he actually came around!! LOL I always said that if parents had a ugly baby they were not ment to be together!! Looks like I have my soulmate!! LOL

I always wondered this myself... then my baby was born. She looked like a bug-eyed alien. But she was absolutely the most beautiful baby I had ever seen in my life. We called her "alien baby" in the beginning, because intellectually we knew she looked really weird, but we still thought she was the most gorgeous creature ever. Parents always think their baby is beautiful. If you don't agree, you can always say something like "You are so lucky" which doesn't say anything about how the baby looks.
BTW, my baby is 6 months now, she grew out of the ugly phase - now strangers stop me in the store to tell me how adorable she is.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. All parents think their baby is the most beautiful thing ever. i have never met someone who said their kid was ugly. i have seen some ugly kids b4 but never heard parents say they are ugly. So yes, they are oblivious. lol

I don't have an ugly baby, my family seem to produce lovely babies - my sisters and cousins have all had perfect children.
Ugly babies do happen and its quite disturbing for everyone involved I guess. You get a bit of a fright looking in the pram and you feel sorry for the parents. I have heard people admit their babies were ugly (looking back but never at the time) and just needed to grow into their features!

I'm a mother of two and yes there are ugly babies but it's not their fault and most of them grow out of it... My friend thinks all babies look like aliens! And I have yet to meet a mother who says her child is ugly, but that's the way a mother is supposed to be. Could you imagine if parents judged their kids by looks. We'd have a lot f screwed up kids!

I'm laughing with you girl. I can't think of one parent who would admit their kid is so ugly they have to sneak up on a glass of water. Just go with it and humor her...My Girlfriend hs a grand daughter 4 months old who wears 18 month old clothes and she is the prettiest baby in the world. So there ya go.

To every parent their child is beautiful regardless. Just nod and say yep. You don't want to hurt her feelings, she is proud. :-)
My oldest was cuter than my youngest. But the more she grew the cuter she got. Now she's cuter than the other. But both are beautiful in their own way.
Yes I have seen some way ugly babies, horrible! But inside they are beautiful!
