I start playing a game, and after some time, I find out that the game is going VERY slow; after I give alt-tab, I see that I have a message: @ EQ Inital Fail!!!@ And I am not able to acces my sound effect function and is like I hear static.
And I have just reinstalled my operating system (XP pro) again.
What can be the cause? pl help me

cant be lack of RAM as I have 768 RAM, 2.8 Pentium 4 processor, and GeForce 4 with 64 memory , and direct x 9

I checked the device manager and if the motherboard driver is under the "Computer" then I did nothing, cos the driver I have is from 2001 and I got the message that there is no new driver available
My motherboard is quite old, is a Gigabyte
Intel 875

yeah it could be the low ram
or the other way is that change the display setting of the game
change the resolution to low
it will definitely help alot

Sounds like a driver problem, especially if you just re-installed your OS.

From the little information you provided I'm guessing that you have sound onboard. (your soundcard is built into your motherboard) So I would recommend updating your mainboard drivers first, then work your way through getting the latest driver for each piece of hardware installed.

If that doesn't work, then it's time to look at the hardware itself.

Lack of RAM.

Just come back to your question - still say lack of Ram - download the following:

http://www.download.com/FreeRAM-XP-Pro/3000-2086_4-10516960.html?tag=lst-0-1

This will free up ram then try your game.

It's either not enough RAM or an issue with your computer's graphics card. What kind of graphics card, and how many MegaBytes is it?
