*bride told me that it is formal in the way that her hubby's brothers would wear jeans to their wedding if they didnt write formal..if you get the drift.....ben (my partner) has been told that for the men it is just expected for them to wear black pants, nice shirt and tie, not full suit...if you get my drift...so formal, as in prom formal, isnt expected for the women...i live in australia, so its autumn, weather will be around 25C, cool but not cold.

For the ceremony at the church, you can wear a suit. Long or three quarter sleeves for the church please or a jacket to cover cleaveage and arms.
Since you decided not to wear a dress, and the dress code is formal, you can wear a SUIT. Please, not pant suits, it's very tacky to attend a weeding on a pant suit.
So your option is to wear a knee, mid-calf or long skirt 2-piece suit in a light color (spring). Pink, green, baby blue, yellow, lavander, coral are all appropriate choices.
NO mini-skirts, pants suits, no black, white or ivory please.
For accesories, please wear a conservative necklace and a bracelet and nice matching earrings. One ring is enough. Please, do not wear flashy bling, several necklaces or multiple rings, that is a big no-no.
I hope this helps. Good luck
PS/ People, there is a difference bewteen formal and black tie. On a black tie affair you are expected to wear a gown. The party that she will be attending has a FORMAL dress code, so a dress or a suit are appropriate choices. Good luck.

Sorry to burst your bubble but the fact is if you don't wear a dress you will stand out more! If you really don't want to look bad in pictures, etc.
Especially since it's a formal wedding.... that means she expects everyone in evening gowns. You can find one that has a little jacket for not to much. Now being as it's at three that means it isn't really formal in time so you might be able to get away with a pretty flowy tea length number (skirt and blouse, pearls and dress shoes).
You might call her mum and ask or a close friend who is also attending.

It says it's formal--that means the bride is expecting people to act like this is prom. Pants really aren't appropriate and are in fact--exactly what she is requesting you not wear. Why won't you wear a dress? Be aware that a small wedding when the bride requests formal means most men will be in tux or black suit and most women will be wearing formal or semi-formal, longer gowns. Make sure you pick something that you would wear to a 5-star restaurant.
It's in 3 weeks so thats like mid-April. I dont know where you live though but figure out the weather and assume for rain. I'd wear open toed dressy sandals to celebrate the spring.
As far as being a bigger gal, check out clothing stores for bigger gals. Lane Bryant. Chadwicks. Chico.

Jewelry is going to be determined based on the gown but yeah I'd wear earrings or something.
Top-I'd pick something dressy again. Maybe a lil sparkly. Yeah black is a good idea--just as long as you don't pick black head to toe. Which part do you feel is your best side and show it off. Do you like your chest--wear something with a big of a v to show off some clevage, maybe a bright solid with a black shirt. If you like your legs--something with a unique hemline to show off. A narrow waist but volumptuous measurements get something that cinches in that waist and accents how small it is.
Wide strap halters and sweetheart necks look great on plus sized women. Wrap styles are great with a minimizer as long as you aren't hanging out of it.
Just as long as you demonstrate respect for the bride. She is having a formal wedding and yes you will be in a lot of pictures since there are only 40 people. Find something that looks great next to other formal gowns. Hope this helps!

A nice two piece will be good since you don't want to wear a dress. They have some pretty two pieces with jackets or shuls. Shoes should be comfortable of course maybe even a sandal shoe, little heel with straps. You can wear a nice pair of earrings maybe even studs with a nice small necklace thats not too long.
Hope this helps.....Have a great time..........and if you do not use any of my ideas, I know you will be very lovely at the wedding because no matter what you wear it will be comfortable to YOU*

skirt.. if its black tie.. You can always call the bride and ask her, if shes too busy call her mother
Don't wear white
wear comfortable shoes.. with a little bit of a heel not too high
don't wear a huge necklace and earrings.. pick one
Your top sounds fine
dont' worry everyone will be looking at the bride and groom what you wear is not terribly important

Check out stores that cater to plus sized women. Here in Ohio we have The Avenue, Lane Bryant, Fashion Bug, and Catherines.
They have tons of cute clothes for fuller sized figures. Lane Bryant is really good then tend to have fashions for the younger women (which i like becuase i am 26). Catherine's seems to cater more to older women. I find a lot of cute stuff at The Avenue to for work.

there is no longer something incorrect with donning your wedding ceremony gown back. i comprehend that brides try this all of the time, while they have holiday spot weddings. for the reason that none of your loved ones and friends have been present day, i'm confident they are going to % to work out you in it.

I would wear a classy, two piece pant suit with some shimmer. Fashion Bug has a good selection.

I like females in jeans. It makes them look more home town like and it doesn't look like they are trying too hard but if you are looking to get this guys attention, this may not be what you want
