My registration expires at the end of this month. But I am planning to buy a new car at the ened of this month. Therefore, I do not want to register my current vehicle because I will be registering my new car anyways.

Is there any grace period for registering cars in Norht Carolina?

Some states won't fine you for being late for 30 days, but once a registration is expired, in any state, it is expired and there is no grace period. Do you plan to send your old one to the junk yard? If not, it needs to be registered to be driven.

The best answer is to call a local DMV office and they can tell you the answer you need. They are the knowledgeable ones on this and may be able to offer suggestions as to even transferring tags and such. But depending on how soon you have to do this you may want to contact them quick. Good Luck.

I don't know for sure about N.C. But where I live in Ohio it is midnight of the night they expire. I'm fairly sure it would be the same everywhere.
