Why would you want to do taxes in the US? You are not obligated to pay taxes in the US unless you exceed $80,000 a year.....But, I am sure they will except it if you want to pay...

Hope that helps.....

If you are a US citizen and have previously filed a tax return you should file one again this year.

Although you may not have an income that is taxable ( I'd check with a tax professional) you may still need to file. This may stop a red flag from occurring.

The IRS may want to know why you didn't file this year and decide to audit you. Not something I think any of us would want.

Just because you file a return does not mean you have to pay taxes.

if you are a citizen I would guess you may have a bank account here in the US, int rest earned on that account is added to your income is taxable. Although if you did not make any or enough money in the US, to be taxable, that amount would not be taxed.

The IRS has all kinds of crazy laws even about US citizens working overseas.

The best advice is to consult a tax professional.

Doesn't seem right that the IRS could tax your income made in another country but the states do it all the time here in the US.

If you work in one state and live in another depending on the taxes in that state you may have to pay taxes in both. Not only that but you have no right to vote in the state you pay taxes in if you don't live there. That to me sounds like
"taxation without representation" one of the reason this country was formed.

No. Persons who works overseas don't pay taxes in the United States even if you are citizen. I work overseas and I don't pay taxes here, but if you own a house and stuff like that you have obligations to pay those taxes. If your family lives here and you are there, you are obligated to pay it. But if you and your entire family lives there, so you don't have to pay taxes, but you have to prove that.

If you are a US citizen living and working abroad you are still liable for US taxes and you had better pay up....12 million illegal aliens are counting on you.

I think you have to, actually. I'm remembering a famous case with Elizabeth Taylor....

BUT whether you can use US rates rather than the foreign one is a different question.

Consult a tax attorney.
