It wasn't just any talking snake.

It was the evil overlord of the underworld, DARTH SATAN!

The evil nemesis of our hero Joshua Skywalker.

I think you are misrepresenting the story. The story might be the snake convinced a woman to eat fruit, but its not that simple.

The snake was the devil. And the woman was one of very few humans in creation. So the story is about humans being tempted to do something that they knew God did not want them to do, and the consequences that ensued.

This severing of the relationship between God and humans could have happened in many different ways.

The reason it allowed sin to enter the world is because God told Adam and Eve that they could eat of any tree except the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Satan had been cast out of Heaven for disobeying God, and he convinced Eve to eat of the fruit. She gave it to Adam and they were cast from the Garden of Eden. The snake and the nudity are not important, its what the two represent. The snake is the devil and the nudity represents the innocence.

Most Bibles say a serpent, but a snake will suffice. Yes, I do believe. If you read the book of Genesis, People back in those days lived to be 100s of years old.
For our puny little minds, I think God had to put things in layman's terms so the masses could understand. Of course the bloated self righteous know-it-alls out there will have it all explained to them when they DIE. It would be hard for them to fathom a book of this magnitude while living, that's why most of them don't read the Bible.

I believe the reason we die is because when Adam, not Eve, ate the fruit from the tree, it allowed sin to enter the world. It's not about the fruit and them eating it, it's about disobeying God. All over the bible there are countless times that people have disobeyed God, and they are consequences because of this. That's the bigger picture, not the snake and Eve, you are so far off.

the snake is a symbol and so is the fruit. It is much deeper then just a silly story about a snake and a naked woman.

That was original sin yes- however no matter when it started - I sinned as well- and as the scriptures say= "The wages of sin is death". However that verse does not end there- "but the gift of life is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord". He has made a way for us to live - He chose us before the foundations of the world to be His- Since ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALL SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD- He had to send His Son so that we could be reconciled to Him.

Darryl,
It is just as believable as two different unthinking atoms combining to make a water molecule. It is just as believable as the possibility that we are meant to have so many complex chemical and physical properties within our body to allow it to perform the complex tasks that are necessary for our survival. The White Blood cells perform a myriad of tasks one of which is to fight infections of all types without even thinking involved. The talking snake was a manifestation of satan. satan causes each of us to sin and have yearnings to defy GOD who created everything that we see. You and I are very fortunate to be a part of GOD's plan at this time. Do you know HIS SON, JESUS CHRIST? HIS retirement plan is "Out of theis World"!! Have a great week.
Thanks,
Eds

The first sin was actually more like treason, with Adam deciding to throw in with Satan, and the forces of evil, against God.

The penalty for that type of offense has always been death.
