I feel like tripping those kids rolling around on thier Heelys...Then I feel like slapping thier parents for buying that crap.

Parents who bought thier kids Heelys: Why!? And also, why do you let them roll around in resturants and stores???

My girls keep asking for them and I won't budge. It drives me nuts when I see them rolling around the stores. I have had a few almost run me over and the parents just laugh it off like whatever. If they want to wear them outside, great, that's the place for them, not in public places. grrrr...but to each his own.

I think heelies do have an appropriate place of use - but that would be parks or a skateparks and I don't see why you can't just use regular skates in that situation.
Unfortunately the person that said their kids only use theirs at appropriate times... not every parent does this. I work at home depot and there are ALWAYS kids on heelies flying around, I have seen many near collisions with other customers. I also get concerned because our floor is concrete and it is common to have "debris" on the ground (little pieces of wood, dirt, rocks, etc). I think it will take people getting hurt before some parents decide that a few minutes of peace while shopping is not worth potential injuries to their child or to others.

I have a seven year old daughter and an eight year old son. They BOTH are driving me NUTS for me to buy them Heely's! They both recently had birthdays and have their own money to buy them are were angry when I said that I wanted them to buy something else. Personally, I cannot believe that the stores are allowing these into their stores! You would think they would be afraid of getting sued by some old lady trying to do her grocery shopping and some little kid running over her with his Heely's?! I think they will soon be banned from stores and resturaunts.

I agree!!! I was at a government office a few weeks back and this lady comes in with her 3 kids. The two older ones were wearing heeleys and pretty much skating around the place. Maybe I'm just getting old but I really don't understand the concept of those shoes. If you want wheels, buy roller skates. I also feel that there is a time and place to roll around on those shoes. Those places do NOT include restaurants, Dr's offices, or government offices.

Hello, my son has a pair of Heelys and I would never let him wear them in a resturaunt or a store. I don't think it is the Heely's per se, I think you just seem to have a problem with rude and inconsiderate people which is understandable. Some parents just are oblivious to their kids sometimes and may not realize they are being rude not to mention putting their kids in danger by letting them skate wherever they choose.

I would not buy my son Heelys. I think they are dangerous. Not only to themselves because they are skating where they should not be, but also to people around them. I was in the supermarket one afternoon and a kid about six wheeled into an old lady and knocked her down. Very bad invention.

I agree, a lot of stores are banning them. My daughter wanted them and I told her no. They look hard to walk in too. I hate when parents are shopping or something and they let the kids whiz around. Someone is going to get hurt. Parents, your kids do not need to have wheels on thier shoes!!! I worry that it is making the kids lazy too. They don't even need to walk through the grocery store any more.

EXACTLY! I mean, you wouldn't let your kid skateboard indoors at public places would you?
Also, when kids skate they should wear safety gear--not the case with heelies. So dumb!
Parents should be slapped for giving in to a fad just because their child wants to be cool.
My kids dont have and never will have heelies--not to mention you have to lean BACKWARDS to use them--and once again, no HELMET!
My kids do have roller blades for using at home and at the park--not in malls and restaurants. And they ALWAYS wear FULL gear!
:)

I think they should be considered the same as rollerskates or skateboards...and with the exception of outside use, should not be allowed. They are not worn with a helmut, and people can fall and get hurt with them just the same!

If the person is seen inside using them in a business or school....they should be asked to leave, or in the case of school, sent home with a reprimand.

Maybe there could be a sign on the door of the store saying they cannot be worn.....

They are recreational....NOT FOOTWEAR!

They are dangerous.....and they are mostly abused by the children that wear them.

ive read a couple of comments where people say they make their kids wear pads and a helmet while rolling around on their heelys... but doesnt that defeat the purpose? why dont you just use rollerblades if you have to put on a helmet and kneepads anyway?

Sometimes I want to trip them too! At lunch one day in the cafeteria a boy was bringing his tray to the table hae was sitting at and he was wearing Heelys and he totally wiped-out! It was hysterical. Serves him right for breaking the school rules and being impolite in public. LOL!

At least take the wheels out when you are in a public building.
