I think the Army is overall a great organization...Why? Here is my perspective.
1. The Army is one of the only organizations where you can come in off the street as an entry level employee and retire 20-30 years later in a position of senior leadership and responsibility. Case in point. A good friend of mine from a poor and rural background enlisted with a high school education back in the 70's, made it to E-7 while earning his degree as a part of the military, and ended up retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel retiring with a total of 3 masters degrees under his belt...he now makes $100,000+ a year between his retirement check and his check as a government contractor working on military projects.
2. The Army is a values based organization. I for one am not a very spiritual person, but I still consider myself to be a good person, and the Army Values fill a lot of those needs in me. You'll learn in basic training the Army Values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage. These values teach you to put your mission above yourself and help you to understand that as a member of the military you are working toward a goal greater than yourself.
3. Despite its faults and occasional mistakes, the Army does a pretty good job at taking care of Soldiers and families. In an organization as large as the Army, there are mistakes that are made, and the media is good at catching those mistakes (which I personally think is great, as the media keeps the government on its toes, which cubs abuse)...Despite what they say about Walter Reed and such, the Army provides pretty good medical care, for example. When I was on active, I managed to give myself a hernia during my off time...I was attempting to move a heavy piece of furniture in my apartment...the Army surgeon fixed the hernia, I had a 2 day hospital stay, 2 weeks of recovery leave, and another month of limited duty...the surgery and hospital stay werefree and the recovery leave and limited duty had no effect on my pay. Where else do you get care like that?
4. The 'fringe' benefits that recruiters talk about really are pretty good. The Army has contributed over $40,000 to my post-secondary education in the last 14 or so years, starting with my GI Bill that I exhausted, tuition assistance for my undergrad and masters degrees, plus student loan repayment for my undergrad student loans.
Overall, I love the Army and consider the 17 years I have spent in it very worthwhile.

I relatively have some thing to provide help to be attentive to which you will in all probability ignore suitable away, push aside, or no longer hear to me. you will in all probability think of i'm loopy, besides the undeniable fact that it particularly is actual. God isn't actual. he's a parent of mind's eye; somebody we blame for our unlucky activities, heaven makes us experience better approximately loss of existence, and it provides us convenience having the sensation that somebody is keeping you. yet what faith relatively does is divide the worldwide and tears human beings aside and classifies human beings. each and all the wars that began around faith, that's maximum of them, made thousands and thousands of human beings die by using fact by using fact have been arguing approximately an imaginary buddy. in case you notice issues in my attitude, and you notice how that's, faith is barely a issue; some thing we ought to continually have left in the back of with us after our technologies and technology examine which could clarify issues that our ancestors could no longer clarify, and mentioned God did it. faith ought to have been forgotten, yet we nonetheless prepare it. lower back, you will in all probability no longer care approximately something that I wrote, yet via the undeniable fact that I wrote all of this purely to assert some thing to somebody i don't be attentive to, and not in any respect would be attentive to if this has any result on you. yet think approximately each and everything I mentioned. enable circulate of religion.

Our military is the most humane military in the world. We don't shoot unless shot at, we rebuild cities, we feed civilians. We are as GOOD as a military can be.
