I know Sterling will be retiring soon, and I hope he gets noticed for what he has done in the past. We never hear about him any more. One thing I know for sure, he i'snt a spoiled little brat like a lot of the young drivers

Yes, Sterling still has fans, and not all of them are from Tennessee. I've been a fan of his for years, and I live in Indiana. He's one of the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet.

Who knows where he would be today if he hadn't broken his neck a few years ago. He's only the third person in NASCAR history to win back to back Daytona 500's. Remember the "Sterlin' stay in your car" campaign after another Daytona 500?

Then there was the Coor's situation. It was said that Sterling was too old for their target marketing audience. I got p*ssed. I sent a nasty email to Coor's. I told them that I'm too old to drink their beer, that at least Miller was sticking with Rusty until his retirement, and, besides, and their "Love Train" song is also older than their target marketing audience.

A couple weeks later a FedEx truck showed up in my driveway with a package from Coor's. In it was a letter stating that it wasn't their decision, but the race team owners. Also included was an autographed Sterling Marlin hat.

I guess sometimes it's good to be a die-hard fan.

Yes there are. Every NASCAR driver has a fan-base including Kirk Shelmerdine who had ordered 200 frontstretch seats at Pocono for them to watch a race one year. Sterling will be best remembered for winning the Daytona 500 twice and being a pretty good chassis man and was one of the last people to come from the grass roots South. I'm pretty sure there a lot of fans in his home state of Tennessee.

confident, there are, and that i'm proud to be one in each of them! i've got been partial to his because of the fact the days of the #ninety 4 Sunoco. i've got been advised that my house is a shrine to Sterling Marlin. (And this guy or woman hasn't even seen my rented storage development.) I met him and have been given my image inquisitive approximately him lower back whilst he drove the #8 Raybestos automobile. (For you youthful whipper-snappers, the #8 has no longer continually had an Earnhardt at the back of the wheel.) I have been given the image autographed whilst he drove the #4 Kodak automobile. a replica of that image is now on a t-blouse. One time an automobile mechanic advised me that i became a smart female because of the fact i became donning a t-blouse with stay away from and Coors easy on it. I advised him that I hated to burst his bubble, yet i became donning Sterling Marlin shirts whilst he drove Chevys and Fords, too. Sterling Marlin followers are dependable to the guy, no be counted what group he drives for.

I like Sterling. I thought is was terrible the way he was treated after the death of Dale Earnhardt. Sterling was real competitive when he drove the Silver Bullet car. He actually almost won the title in 02, but injuries and Tony Stewart stopped that.

i'm sure he has quite a few fans left, especially in Tennessee. I kinda feel bad for him because he prob would have won the championship in 2002 if he hadnt gotten hurt.
