They make up loopholes for themselves. I'm sure they realize that if they took a look at themselves they are guilty of the same or possibly more misdeeds as anyone else.

Excuse my thoughts, but this is a pretty lame question. You've just proven why people don't understand CHristianity.

If your life is quided by lust, then yes, you are going to hell. If you sin hear and then (because nobody is perfect) - and you are a Christian - you must repent and avoid those traps again.

What are these "nasty thoughts" you talk about. You lack specifics in this because Nasty thoughts can be anything. Your degree is not the same as my view of a nasty thought. Piece of advice:

*Add specifics when you ask a question and quit trying to trap people with general inquiries that can lead 'anywhere'.

*Take a look at who and what you are comparing. You are comparing human nature to a religious belief - which is composed of humans. So of course Christians will be faced with certain issues and say things out of "Human Nature". D'uh.

Get real

Well, if they are people who think 'oh I went up front I'm saved' or 'I said a prayer-I'm saved' and show no evidence throughout their lives of what the Bible calls 'the fruits of the spirit' then odds are they aren't saved at all and probably will be going to Hell. I say probably, because the only one who truly knows is Jesus Christ Himself.
However, if at other times in their lives, they ARE showing the 'fruits of the Spirit'..then, should the Rapture take place today, would have some explaining to do before Jesus. All our lives are layed open before Him, both now, and in the future when 1) the Rapture of the Church takes place, for those who are Believers, and 2) the end of the 7 year Tribulation and 3) the end of the 1000yr reign of Jesus on the earth at the Great White Throne Judgement. It can either be a good event in our lives, or a bad event in our lives...the choice is ours. We either live to bring Jesus honor in our lives or we live our lives for ourselves. Those who claim to be Christians and yet live like the world does....should seriously stop and rethink what their life is amounting to. Time is short, based on what the Bible says about 'the End Times'...Christ could come back at any moment and the Rapture could take place at any time now. Making sure that we are walking our talk (living what we say we are--Christians) is more important now than ever.

Everything that is considered sin, is punishable. The difference between Christians and others is not that we don't get punished. We do. God allows us to reap the consequences of our actions and He will sit by and watch us destroy ourselves if that is what we are bent on doing. Still, Christians differ from those who are not in that when it's all said and done and our lives are over, we do not face the eternal consequences of our sin and can live with God forever in Heaven because Jesus Christ paid the penalty for our sin with His death on the cross. Christianity is not like some exclusive country club with special privileges for its members. All are welcome to join. Christians struggle through life just like anyone else. Thing is though, we have Jesus to walk through life with us and to lift us up and guide us along the way, and He will be waiting for us at the end of our lives with outstretched arms, welcoming us into Heaven despite the sins we may have committed because our sins will have been forgiven. This is a privilege that is open to all.

I am a Christian. We are all sinners and come short of the Glory of God.
Christians are no better. Only difference is we have been born again into the Holy Spirit. This is impossible for sceptics to understand. Only by God's grace are we saved from the great day of God almighty. Judgment is coming.
"But I didn't understand" will not be an excuse on that day.

Well it just so happens that everyone is guilty in this case. Everyone has at least once had an impure thought. If we weren't forgiven then living now is a waste cause we would all be going to Hell.
You have to ask for forgiveness and really really want it. You can't sin and expect to be forgiven.

It is definately a sin. No-one is perfect, although sometimes Born-Again Christians come off like they think they are sometimes. In my experiences with them (although I admit I don't live in the deep South or anything, these are Northern BAC's), it really seems more like they are trying to remind us and support us when we fall into sin. When they chastise us, I mean.

I don't know much about the idea of "justification" or "Once-Saved-Always-Saved", so I wouldn't be able to comment on that, sorry.

Don't think the feeling is punishable.
It becomes sin if you improperly dwell on the feeling to the point you act on it in an improper manner.
Dismiss the feeling by redirecting your thoughts and activities toward something more wholesome.

We are all sinners before God.
But through the blood of Jesus Christ we are saved and accepted. Forgiveness prevents us from going to hell for our sins, including those which we cannot avoid because "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." :)

No one has to go to Hell for sin. Jesus already paid the price for your sin, and God accepted His death as payment in full for your sin, my sin, and everyone else's sin. Do Christians sin? Yes. But because they believe that Jesus died for their sins, they can claim His death as payment for those sins. If you don't believe it, you can't, and you will go to Hell for your lack of belief, because you only get the debt paid for you if you believe that someone has paid it for you. If you don't you have to pay it yourself. That's why it's such an important question: do you and will you believe or not?
