I am a Freemason. What your wife believes does not matter at all. They only religious question they can ask if your husband believes in God. It is against the rule for masons to discuss religion or politics with each other.
When i ask the older masons the reason for the rule the answer i am given is.
Always doing the morally right thing(being fair and honest is what matters, no judgments will be made about your sex life) is very important. It was/is thought a person that does not believe in god will be more like to do wrong if they think no person will find out. A person that believes in god knows someday he/she will be judged for there wrong doings even if no other people know what they did.
My question for you is how do the two of you raise kids if you don't agree on if there is a God or not. What belief is taught to the kids

I am a Co-Mason, Freemasonry for women and men. Our Order requires the person joining to believe in some Supreme Being. We do not care what the spouse believes. However, we do care if that spouse would be against the candidate joining. Freemasonry should not be disruptive of the home.
We admit women and men of all races and religions (even Deists like me); that candidate for initiation must be tolerant of all races and religions, as well. We bring neither politics nor religious differences into the Lodge. When we work together, we are all building blocks in the Temple of Solomon.
So as far as Co-Masonry, an atheistic spouse would not disqualify a candidate.

Having an athiest wife shouldn't make a difference on whether or not a man gets into a Masonic lodge. All that matters is that he believes in God.

The wife would probably only run into problems with the other wives, it probably wouldn't have to much of an impact on the man but the wives have a group thing going on and the atheistic wife could have problems in that area.

Belief in creator is all that matters, if you believe that evolution is the creator then you should be fine. The Masons make a point of not mixing religious beliefs with ceremony.

If they require belief in some sort of conscious creator then there is clearly something wrong with them. I'm not exactly trustful of meddling secret societies at the best of times...... but meddling secret societies formed of theists are far worse...
I wonder though how they would handle Shinto...
Now that is awkward.

They believe in a Grand Archetect of the Universe. As far as I know, your beliefs don't matter. His would only have to include a creator, not the Christian version.

They really don't care about the wives so long as she doesn't try to influence the husband and restrict him from Masonic duties.

Freemasons do not let Atheists join, if they question your beliefs, I'd fake it for his sake.
