Try to think of how much is in a bunch for the ones you can get in the shops.
In general, one bunch is like, you can grab in one hand by the stalks (but not too full, just a comfortable grab with a smallish hand).

A bunch is as said by many ,a comfortable fistful ,when you are picking from your own garden you keep a clear picture of what you are making & how much you think will be right, then when you are in the kitchen you get a better idea with all other ingredients at hand.I don't think fresh herbs are difficult to judge dried herbs need more caution as they cam be strong.

actually fresh has a more subtle taste than dried, so use about double fresh than when using dried. A bunch is about a handfull. With basil about 10-12 big leaves will give you a good bunch.

a palmful or so. a bunch of fresh basil would fit in the crook of your hand between your index finger and thumb. it's all relative to taste, anyway...use what you like. but remember fresh will have a stronger taste and different texture from dried. but fresh is better, for sure.

What fits in your hand comfortabely...Not crushed in a fist, grab a handfull...If I knew what you were making it would be easier.Basil is strong so probabely around 12 leaves will do a sauce for 4 people
