No, unless it is a medication that they take levels for, because you won't have a level. now the real question is.... what is the medicine? because if it's not for pain or something like that you will have no clue if it's working or not. please let me know what the medication is i can help you further.

ps after more info. Advair will control your symptoms overtime. It reduces the frequency you will need your rescue inhaler. If it's not helping you may need the higher dose. If you hate it that much maybe he can prescribe flovent or combivent instead. combivent will surely be less costly, i'm not sure about flovent. there are no generics out yet. do you have insurance? and if you don't many pharmacies (walgreens) has a discount card for $35 a year and in most cases pays for itself after one fill of your prescription.

Here are questions to determine if you need Advair:

how are your peak flows? are you measuring those? How often are you using a rescue inhaler? Do you wake at night and need to use a rescue inhaler? how far do you walk before needing it?

no feed back from the pharmacy when you don't order more or don't use prescription. Doctors are like auto mechanics. Some are good, some are questionable

No he doesn't but you need to let him know that you are not taking it even though he wants you to take it. Please discuss this with your doc so you can try to come up with some kind of compromise like trying a different medicine or trying to go without the med etc. You do need to keep your doc informed.
