It may be futile, but the question of what you will or will not believe about God is without exception the most important question you will encounter in life. If you refuse to believe your own eyes (for God has revealed Himself in nature), and refuse your heart (God has put knowledge of His existance in the hearts of us all), and require emperical data in order to believe, why would you even ask this question? What area of study could be more vital?

Perhaps PROVING the "pursuit of the supernatural is futile", rather than simply decreeing it in a smallminded manner.
