I have 2 daughters one 23yrs and the other 16yrs.
the oldest talked early she was a little talker but my youngest used to babble but understanding everything. She made real sentences when she was 2yrs.She's a big talker now.
Don't worry, mine were sisters and were raised exactly the same, but they acted differently. Your 18mnth old will talk in no time.Just keep on talking to the baby.
good luck
cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My son is 20 months old and he doesn't speak in sentences yet either. And like your little one, he only says nouns. This is common. Yeah, there's a lot of baby talk too. (I love it!) Anyway, My older daughter is 5 now but I think she started talking more when she was 2. This is normal so nothing to worry about!
Oh yeah, I also wanted to add that even though she isn't speaking so many words yet, you can bet she is understanding more than you can believe! This is normal too. Comprehension comes before Communication. Just give it time. You can certainly try to stimulate her by naming more things for her (bear, dog, truck, tv, ear, nose, etc....) and talking to her a lot.

Not a lot really. My son is constantly babbling and chatting away but not a lot is distingushable as words yet.
He has 'thank you' but more the sounds not the real words.
Na nite
Ma mum
Dadda
Mmmmmmmm (for food)
Iya (hiya)
And a lot more that only I can figure out!
Its funny, for someone who doesn't have a lot of words he makes himself heard very well!
I've been making the mistake of comparing him to other kids I know or what their parents tell me which is a big mistake as we all know by now they are all different!

Our 18 month old boy mainly babbles, but we have made out some of them. He says Da da, Mom mom, nah nah (for our daughter who's name is Jessica), here you go, and bye bye, big guy, and he counts I say 1 and he says 2 and I say 3, mmmmm for food, night night, and bath. I am sure that with time we will figure out even more of his babbles. I have herd that boys talk later then girls, our daughter was walking and talking before she turned 1.

My daughter did, my son didn't. He is now 3, she 4 and both talking up a storm. Sometimes I wish they'd just be quiet for a bit... get down on the floor and talk to her. It doesn't matter what you say, just use inflection. She'll be talking soon enough so relax.

He can name all the animals, family members, foods, basic items. His favorite sentence is "bug yuck" (he puts them in his mouth - uuugh) Can do a little of twinkle twinkle little star, but most of his sentences are two words.

our daughter will talk your head off! She can say anything you want her to say. She can count to 10 and say some ABC's knows everyones name in the family, knows food items and items in the house. She is very smart for her age.
