Honestly, I would wait closer to 2008. You have two years to wait this out & know exactly what you want. I am getting married on January 4, 2008 & I booked the church & wedding on January 5, 2007. So I say when its exactly a year away. But if you have a HUGE church & all of that, book now 'cause someone might have already booked. Just call & see. It doesn't hurt.
No need to send out invites until 2 or 3 months prior to the wedding. If you send out too early, people will either misplace the invitation or forget about. If anything, around January 2008, sent out a "SAVE THE DATE" cards so people will have a heads up on the invitation. That is what I did.
Good luck.

You should try and book everything early as possible to make sure don't anyone else get your location. You can send the invites out about 6 weeks before the wedding. You should meet with the wedding planner/coordinator soon also to make sure his/her schedule isn't full. Congrats Good Luck On Everything!!! I'm getting married Feb. 14, 2009

Depending on where you want to get married, some places can be booked years ahead, so the first thing i would do is decide which venue your having your reception at, and then book the church, can be difficult to get in sync. I organised my own wedding and thats the first think that needs to be done. As for invitations 6-8 weeks before the wedding date is sufficient time. If your getting a wedding planner he/she should be pretty orgainsed with everything done for you, just the way you want it. Honestly i wouldnt waste money on a wedding planner, just do it yourself, only takes careful planning and let your fingers do the walking

Book the place as soon as possible. It's not as bad in the winter, but a lot of places book up at least a year in advance. Some places are already booking into 2009, so it doesn't hurt to look! Plus, you will usually get the prices of the year that you look at instead of paying the prices of the year you get married. (Most places go up by at least 10% each year.) Also, it gives you time to look at as many places as you want (my fiance and I looked at 16) and find what you really, really want.
Also, how do you know the date if you haven't booked the place or the church yet?
Congrats!

That is a pretty long engagement!
Book things NOW because you never know who might share your date. Booking your church shouldn't be a huge deal, but getting a reception hall, catering services (if you choose), and all that other great stuff is tough if you wait. The sooner the better when it comes to planning your wedding, my dear (this includes the planner... get in touch!)
As far as invites go, send them out at least six weeks before the ceremony. You can go as early as three months beforehand.
Good luck to you and congrats!!

First of all, Congrats!
Your best bet is to call the wedding coordinator and ask her. Different cities have different 'busy' times of the year.
It's never too early to begin planning in your mind, jot things down, make a list of songs the two of you like, etc.
Never ever too early to go look at wedding dresses...it's so much fun!
Again, congrats!

You could book your church and banquet hall now - just to make sure you have the ones you want.
Otherwise, take your time. Start in November or so of this year. Most people take a year or less to plan a wedding.

Depending on where you live, you need a year ahead to book the church/minister, the venue and the caterer. Invites are only sent out six to eight weeks before the wedding.
O, girl, move the date closer!!!!

Start booking now.....
church and the hall can't be book too soon. I booked mine 1.6 years in advance and it really help trying to make payments on it.
Invites go out 6 months pior but you could do save the date cards to get the word out earlier.
Get you planner now too.....
