Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:

Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about from the first year with baby. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures of your new family to it!

The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.

Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.

Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.

What about a ring or sometype of jewelry. You can take him out to dinner and get him flowers (that's always a good idea). I think that your daughter could give him some cute novelty that has some message about fathers on it. The ones that look like the message was actually written by a child are always nice.

definite that's a great concept, in case you desire to make it realllllly particular, flow to the dollar save and purchase a coffee mug (or use one out of your cupboard, purely be confident it would not have any cracks or chips on it), then get a pair packets of those one cup servings warm candies (you should purchase a field of swiss pass over or nestles for a pair of dollar - use 2 or 3 packets tucked interior the cup and you have got the different 9 or 10 leftover for your self!!!) then use a sheet of tissue paper or some newspaper or paper towels and wrap that around the cup then stuff it right into a lunch bag sized paper bag, if the bag is genuine undeniable you may decorate it with drawings of marshmallows :)

The photo frame with their picture is a good idea. How about a 'worlds best Dad' mug? (or that could be saved for fathers day!)

Don't spend a fortune, just make it a small something. I don't like rings with names on either.

One of the first gifts I bought on behalf of our little boy to his Daddy for his birthday was a 'World's Greatest Dad' keyring. My husband cherishes it, and three years on it is still attached to his keys and gleams. It was only something small, but it touched his heart.

And every year, be it a bought card or hand-made one, our little lad does one of his splendid drawings inside.

Get him something very small and inexpensive... it's the kids first birthday, not his... spend the time effort and money making sure she knows she is loved and that it is her special day. I would have been mortified if my wife had been spending money and time on presents for me in the lead up to our sons first birthday. Us guys do actually realise that one year old children can't go shopping and buy us presents and cards you know! ;-)

for my dads first father's day my mom wrote a poem and then put a picture of my dad's first picture holding me. then put it in a frame. Anything you do for him from her will be very special I'm sure.

PS- You could also make moldings of her hand and foot print...they sell stuff for that at craft stores.

If he doesn't have an iPOD already, get him an ipod shuffle. They're not really that expensive, they're under $30 brand new on ebay. Put some nice songs on there that could be from your daughter to him. He could use it when he's mowing the lawn.
