All parrots and cockatoos bond with their owner- mainly because of the flock/mate issue. If they are the only bird, and you spend the most time with them, you will become a mate (in the protective and feeding sense). Otherwise, you are a flock member, and parrots and cockatoos stay very close to the rest of their flock.

Just two examples: We got a pair of macaws in at the zoo I work at- they were with their previous owner for the past 4 yrs- she would sit them at the table, handfeed, take showers, etc- basically everything. We got them, and they can not be handled at all- without very thick gloves and a sweatshirt, they will try to bite off your hand. No one has successfully worked with them yet. The owner came to visit 3 months later, and they were screaming for her the rest of the day.
Another example: my cockatiel, Tweets, gets watched by someone else in the summer, and then I pick her back up. She does not allow anyone else to pet her, though she will step up for all girls and some guys. When I came back after that 3 month break (and she is a very very dumb bird, I thought she would forget me) she flew right to my shoulder to preen my hair- and I could not move her from their for the next 2 hours.

All parrots bond, they are social creatures and need companionship. The owner takes the place of the bird community.

I have parakeets and a cockatiel and the cockatiel is by my side throughout the day. He is such a sweetheart and wants to be with me all the time and do everything I do and LOVES to eat the fruits and vegetables I eat. I know other people who have cockatiels also and theirs are the same way

I don't really know about all the breeds, but I have a sun conure and he loves me lots. I can hold him, pet him, and everything, he talks to me and he loves to give me kisses. When i leave him in the room and I'm not there, he flys out to find me, i love him lots and he's so sweet.
