I am getting ready to get my bike license and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good bike to start out with? Like in size and speed? and even brand? I also welcome any advice for veteran riders.

If UK, then the largest you can get, to ride on your own, is 125cc. Mopeds are also becoming popular again, but bear in mind that these use automatic gear boxes and will effect your licence. As for make, I like Honda, but you might find this a bit heavy. Yams arn't bad, nor are suzis.

If you are doing direct access, a pocket rocket is not a bad idea. 400 Jap imports are very sporty. But basically, you will need at least 33 bhp to meet the direct access requirements. Unfortunatly, with these larger machines, you can not ride them unless accompanied by instructor.

My recommendation, especially for getting road sence, would be a Honda 125.

Luck

A low-powered Harley would be best; those rice-burners are pieces of ****.
