Because your dd 214 shows creditable service. The two days as an E-4 aren't enough to qualify. I believe that you need to hold a rank for a minimum of six months to get credit for that grade.
Just for curiosity, what difference does it make? The important thing is that the 214 says "honorable" discharge.

Reenlist quickly! Go back in for a 3 year stretch, make Spec5, maybe you can get a school deal and make Spec6? It is a shame that you did not negotiate after you accepted your Art 15. If your 1st had gone to bat for you then perhaps the commander who dished out the punishment would have relented and rewritten the thing. That punishment is non judicial and the commander has (or at least had) vast latitude in administering it when I was in. Of course, getting busted a grade is pretty stringent already so I assume you screwed up big time. Too bad. As long as the discharge is honorable I don't think you should worry too much anyhow.

Nope. Your DD-214 will reflect your rank at the time of your separation or retirement, and cannot be changed to reflect the highest rank held. The ONLY exception to this is when an officer is RIF'ED, that is, when he is passed over for promotion and chooses to remain in the military as an enlisted man rather than separate. If an officer finds him/herself in this situation, if they don't have enough TIS to retire, they can elect to be RIF'ED to the commensurate enlisted rank; for example, I knew a major who was RIF'ED to the grade of E-6/TSgt because that was the commensurate enlisted rank, and when he retired 18 months later he retired at the highest rank he held - major.
In your case, there's no way you can get your DD-214 changed.

After being busted , your new permenent rank became PFC, which was your rank when discharged. This is the only, or should I say, highest rank for which you are entitled to claim.

Sorry, Charlie. You left as a PFC, not a SPC. The DD 214 reflects what it was, not what you want it to have been.

No. You surrendered all rights to that rank and title when you screwed up and earned the disciplinary action. You want a better record, re-enlist and start over. Otherwise, forget about it; it isn't going to change.
