If god was a human being... he probably would not have permitted the slaying of innocents. What if God is pure energy?

As per Bhagavad Gita... the most sacred scripture of Hinduism the definition of god is, “the sum total of all souls atmans in the cosmos at a given point of time". Even the size of god has been made explicitly clear. God is but the size of half a thumb.

God being pure energy... he never indulges in the creation of his. Everything that happens for good in the cosmos is invoked from the reservoir of mind plus. All negative thoughts invoked from the reservoir of mind minus.

Being fair and merciful is an act that can be exercised both by a positive or a negative thinker. Whatever happens in the world is directly related to the karma performed by the total humanity. Wrong deeds lead to incurring sin... to pardon or not to pardon is purely a matter of judgment.

If one is innocent in the present manifestation and yet suffers privation... it is possible that one is experiencing the fruits of the negative karma performed in earlier lives. In the physical manifested world it sometimes seems one suffers owing to his innocence... and the other prospers in spite of his bad deeds yet, In the cosmic system of things... nothing ever suffers!

From life to life, manifestation after other... the balance sheet of life... the residual karma of an individual keeps forwarding. Nothing is the result of chance. If an innocent suffers in the present life... one shall reap the benefits of such a sacrifice in the coming manifestations. In the cosmic system of things... everything does not balance within the present life itself.

Whatever karma we are carrying out now... the fruits may become available right now or four manifestations henceforth! In Hinduism this has been termed as Prarabdha Karma. More on prarabdha karma - http://www.godrealized.com/glossary/prarabdha_karma.html

If God was fair, none of us would be here to even have this discussion.

If God was fair, He could have aborted His creation after Adam disobeyed and ate the apple. Thus causing all of the evil, hate, hurricanes, tsunamis, etc to exist on the earth.

Or, He could have not saved ANYONE after the flood. Or, He wouldn't have sent His only Son to die for us KNOWING people would doubt His existence.

Where there is judgement there is always mercy. These two go hand in hand. There is always a group spared.

Instead of not liking God because innocents are slain, consider that God remembers the innocent and they receive special honors in Heaven. Also consider that Heaven is a far better place than earth.

Hope this helps!

This is a tough question, and volumes have been written on it. Why does a good God allow pain? It would take too long to give an adequate summary of what everyone has said about this, but I will try to give you the short answer.

In some respects, in order for free will to exist, God must allow people the freedom to do evil. Many people die because of our own neglect, or through our own cruelty.

It is not entirely clear that having a young person die is cruel; God could be allowing that person to die in order to spare that person from a terrible future. In any case, it is not always clear to us humans what God is up to, because God is more complex than what we humans, with our limited minds, can ever fully understand. I know that this explanation is not going to satisfy you, but it seems to be the explanation that the Bible gives. We are to trust that God knows what he is doing, even if we do not, and that he deeply cares for all of us.

For a better answer, try talking to your pastor, or try reading the book by C. S. Lewis, "The Problem of Pain". I have given you a link to an article that summarizes the book below:

Ultimately, all tragedies happen because of sin. I'm not speaking of an individual's sin, but sin in general. Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit and disobeyed God, thereby, bringing sin upon all of humanity. Adam's own son, Cain, murdered his brother. God allowed this, but did not approve and severely punished Cain.

God does intervene when He wills, and other times, He allows tragic things to happen. While He allows it, He does not condone or cause tragedy because He is not evil.

Through Adam, sin and death was brought upon the world, but God did not leave us hopeless. The Bible says, "The Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world." Jesus became our second "Adam"; He obeyed the will of the Father unlike the first Adam who disobeyed. Jesus took the sins of the world upon His shoulders, and made a way for us to find ultimate peace in the midst of distressing times.

So why did God allow such a tragic event to take place? Ask Him. Get down on your knees and prayerfully engage the Lord with your questions, heartaches, and concerns. He isn’t afraid of your questions. When you sincerely approach God with a questioning heart, He can begin to answer your queries while transforming your heart at the same time.

Remember that God is in complete control. (Psalm 103:19) We must realize that God knows and sees beyond this moment. He will use even this to display His glory.

For instance, in the weeks following September 11, unity among Americans was at an all-time high, donations for relief support were substantial, and people realized the importance of relying on God in all circumstances.

it is the argument of how god and evil can exist in the world. As augustine puts it, either god can not remove evil then god is not all powerful or god can remove evil but chooses not to do so, then god is not all merciful. This leads to the iconsistant triad that says that god being omni benevolent, god being omnipotent and evil and suffering existing can't all exist.

However iranes explains the presence of both natural evil as soul building so that everyone can go to heaven and moral evil as god having given his creation free will to make a perfect world.

Augustine argrees with the reason for moral evil but proposes that god uses natural evil to punish sin from people due to their free will.

moral evil- is the things that are wrong in the world due to humans-eg war, poverty

natural evil- wrong and suffering due to naturee.g volcanic eruptions

Because the first and greatest gift God gave us was Free Will. No soul endures anything they didn't agree to before life. We each wrote our own contract.

And those innocents who were slayen are better off in heaven than here. Remember how temporal this 'life' is.

Those who slay have choice! But do they get away with it?
God made us perfect, but Adam and Eve fell!
We can enjoy this life if others let us.
Even Jesus (God incarnate was slain).
It's called free will and a lot of responsibility that has !

Because theoretically this life is not the important one and the way we live this life determines how we will live the next. The innocents who are murdered will live a better life after death and the murderers will not.

God permits each individual to make their own choices. Following God, learning his ways and principles teaches us to make right choices. Some people choose to follow wrong teachings and make wrong choices. That's why there is evil in the world. God wants us to choose right on our own. He doesn't want to make us all little robots with no will of our own.
